Important Information

If your school would like to join during a realignment and reclassification period:

Before May 1 of each even-numbered year, the UIL establishes conferences for League contests and assigns each member school wishing to compete in UIL activities to an appropriate district in accordance with reclassification and realignment policies as approved by the Legislative Council. These conferences and districts shall be maintained for the next two school years.

UIL will process the form once completed and then reach out to the school superintendent, or designee with further instructions on becoming a member school. If the school is applying to become a member school during a realignment period, your school will be required to submit additional information through the UIL Portal by specific deadlines. Once the information is submitted and verified, UIL will assign the school to a conference and district for the following two school years. Your school will be mailed an invoice to complete the registration process.

If your school would like to join after a realignment and reclassification period:

  • If accepted into UIL, your school will be assigned to a conference.

Your school would then need to petition a district for acceptance in your assigned conference, to participate that year. To be accepted, your school must be approved by a majority vote of the District Executive Committee (DEC). The DEC chair would then notify UIL of that decision through the form below.

  • You can find more information about the schools in each conference/district here: UIL Alignments Page

  • All schools in each district should know who the DEC members are and how to contact the DEC chair. Your school can find the nearest district from the UIL Alignments page and then reach out to a school(s) to obtain the DEC chair information.

  • The DEC chair may add your school to their DEC's agenda for consideration. If accepted into a district by majority vote, then please have the DEC chair complete this form: DEC ACCEPTANCE INTO A DISTRICT

  • UIL will invoice the school district and the application process will be finalized once the form from the DEC chair is recieved.

Once assigned to a district, it is the school’s responsibility to indicate their intent to participate in activities annually.
