Academic Invitational Meets and Tournaments

Rather than going to the district meet without any formal experience in a contest, most high school students attend invitational or practice meets in their local area. While the UIL does not govern such meets, most host schools abide by UIL rules.

For schools that host an Invitational Meet, UIL prepares two sets of high school tests (Set A and Set B) that may be purchased for use during dates listed on the UIL calendar. Schools planning to host meets on dates other than these will need to order tests from other sources. Invitational materials are not for individual use or to be used solely as study materials. They will only be sold to schools hosting invitational meets.

If you need to make a correction on a previously submitted invitational meet, email changes to UIL Academics at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Welcome to the “Tournament That Teaches” for novice and varsity competitors. In the morning, novice students will participate in educational sessions conducted by some of the best instructors in the state and in the afternoon they will have “educational” rounds. Novice students will be provided with cases, briefs and other materials. New to this year we will be adding intermediate/advanced lectures for the varsity CX and LD students to attend in the morning. There will be two lectures during each time slot. Students may pick which lecture they would like to attend for each time slot. In the afternoon, varsity students will have two rounds.  We will offer all traditional UIL speaking events (CX debate, LD debate, Congress, Persuasive, Information, Prose and Poetry. These tournaments are intended for schools or teams that prefer "UIL style" forensics.

Welcome to our First Annual Friday Night Lite Debate Tournament at Porter! The goal here is to get kids practice with debate without taking the whole weekend, especially with their UIL regional congress legislation and CX! We will offer only three events, CX, Congress, and LD (UIL). Each will run basically all evening on Friday with awards given out at the end, with all students being able to participate the whole time (i.e. no breaks), while leaving Saturday for other tournaments or the rest that we could all use. Tournament will run on September 23rd, and schedule is on the site, but will have plenty of rounds for all! Trophies for the top 3 in each event!
