FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX - Bands from across the state will compete for top honors at the 2004 UIL State Marching Band Contest to be held November 5-6 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The Conference 3A bands will compete on Monday, with the preliminaries beginning at 9:30 a.m., and the finals beginning at 7 p.m. The Conference 5A competitions will be held on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m. for the preliminaries, and 7:30 p.m. for the finals.

Tickets for the State Marching Band Contest are $12 for adults and $5 for students for each session (prelims and finals). An adult one-day ticket, which may be used at both prelim and final sessions the same day, is available for $18. Two-day adult tickets good for the entire marching contest are available for $30 each. Tickets are on sale the day of the contest.

Spectator parking will be available in Lot C at the cost of $8 per vehicle per day.

Judges from all over the country that have distinguished themselves as successful marching band directors and administrators will decide the State Champions.

Conference 3A participants include: Levelland, Marion, Llano, Whitesboro, Pittsburg, Carrizo Springs, Robinson, Wills Point, New Boston, Port Isabel, Princeton, Canyon, Gatesville, Castleberry, Groesbeck, Rio Hondo, Canton, Lindale, and Monahans.

Participants in Conference 5A are: Haltom City, Cypress Fairbanks, Mission Sharyland, Sugar Land Austin, El Paso Bel Air, Cedar Park, Houston Cypress Falls, Harlingen, Richardson Berkner, Pearland, Midland Lee, Carrollton Creekview, Houston Langham Creek, Austin Westlake, Hurst Bell, San Antonio Churchill, The Woodlands, El Paso Coronado, McAllen, Rowlett, Clute Brazoswood, Coppell, San Antonio Reagan, El Paso Americas, Klein, Flower Mound Marcus, Katy Cinco Ranch, Sugar Land Clements, Austin Bowie, Duncanville, and La Joya.
