AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Monday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
Student-athletes from Slaton High School and Bay City High School were denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committee.
A student-athlete from Rio Vista High School was issued a two-game suspension that consists of the first two district games of the 2025 season. It was determined that the student-athlete was found in violation of Section 50(b)(2), Student Violations.
The State Executive Committee upheld a postseason ban for the Rio Vista High School football team handed down by the District Executive Committee. The SEC also overturned a DEC decision that stated district schools had the option to play Rio Vista High School for the 2025 Football season.
Rio Vista High School Head Football Coach Matthew Woodard was issued a two-game suspension that consists of the first two district games of the 2025 season.
Austin Johnson High School Head Football Coach Joseph Rauls was issued a public reprimand, a two-year probation and additional one-game suspension for coaching while serving a four-game suspension.
The Austin Johnson High School Football program was issued a two-year probation.
