AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to issue penalties for possible UIL rules violations.
Former Sheldon King High School Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Zion Fitzpatrick was issued a three-year suspension from coaching any UIL activity and must appear before the committee prior to taking another position within UIL. He was also issued a public reprimand.
Sheldon King High School Head Boys Basketball Coach Damien Mobley was issued a seven-game suspension in 2025-26 district play, one-year probation and a public reprimand.
The Sheldon King High School basketball program was issued one-year probation.
A student-athlete from Taft High School was suspended for the first two games of the 2026 softball season.
Mathis High School Assistant Softball Coach Briana Cruz was issued one-year probation and a public reprimand.
Taft High School Head Softball Coach Enrique Trevino and Mathis High School Head Softball Coach Ciara Gaitan were both issued one-year probation.
Mathis High School and Taft High School athletics programs were both issued one-year probation and are required to provide a detailed plan for safety protocols at athletic events to the committee.
