NEXSTAR MEDIA AND MISSION BROADCASTING TO BRING TEXAS STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS TO FANS ACROSS THE STATE
Television Stations Across Texas to Provide Broadcast and Streaming Access to 12 State Championship Games Over Four Days
IRVING, TX, (October 29, 2026) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), and Mission Broadcasting, Inc., today announced that their television stations and streaming platforms across Texas will provide extensive live coverage of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Football Championships, giving high school football fans across the state free access to 12 championship games. AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host the championships from December 16 – 19, 2026.
The television stations and local streaming platforms of Nexstar Media and Mission Broadcasting will make it easier than ever for fans to follow the teams, student-athletes, and communities competing for a state championship. Each championship game will be available on local broadcast television, streaming platforms, or both, depending on the market. Fans across Texas and beyond can also watch the games, regardless of their location, through any of the participating stations’ digital streaming platforms. Participating local stations and digital platforms include: KDAF and CW33+ (Dallas), KIAH and CW39+ (Houston), KBVO, KXAN and KXAN+ (Austin), KTSM 9.2 Estrella TV and KTSM+ (El Paso), KCIT, KAMR, and KAMR+ (Amarillo), KRBC and KTAB+ (Abilene/Sweetwater), KSAN and KLST+ (San Angelo), KYLE and FOX44+ (Waco/Temple/Bryan), KJBO and KFDX+ (Wichita Falls), KTPN and KETK+ (Tyler/Longview), KAMC and eL+ (Lubbock), KMID and Big2+ (Midland/Odessa), and KGBT and Valley Central+ (Harlingen/Brownsville).
“High school football is part of the fabric of Texas, and few events bring communities together like the UIL State Football Championships,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division. “Nexstar and Mission have a strong local presence across Texas, and we are excited to use the combined reach of our television stations and digital platforms to give fans more ways to watch these student-athletes compete for a state championship. This is exactly the kind of local sports programming our stations are uniquely positioned to deliver.”
The four-day championship event will feature 12 games across six classifications, culminating a season that brings together student-athletes, families, schools and communities from across Texas. UIL competition crowns Division I and Division II state champions across its football classifications.
“The UIL State Football Championships are an important tradition for high schools and communities throughout Texas,” said Dr. Jamey Harrison, Executive Director of the University Interscholastic League. “We are excited to work with Nexstar Media and Mission Broadcasting to expand access to these championship games and we are pleased that fans will be able to watch them through streaming and local television broadcasts across Texas.”
Viewers should check local program listings to find the games being broadcast and/or streamed in their individual market.
