League Launches New Website

After a year-and-a-half-long journey, UIL has unveiled a newly redesigned website.

“The goal of the site is to try to get people into the appropriate content area as quickly as possible,” UIL Webmaster Stephen Tidmore said. “People know what area of the site they want to see, so we want to help them get there more easily.”

Update on plans for 2010-11 school year regarding officials

As you may be aware, the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) has filed a lawsuit regarding the decision of the UIL Legislative Council to amend section 1204 of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules for the 2010-11 school year.  As the 2010-11 school year approaches, due in large part to this ongoing litigation, questions have arisen concerning insurance coverage for officials who are members of chapters that have previously registered with the UIL. Insurance coverage provided as part of the UIL registration process for officials and chapters that registered with UIL during the 2009-10 school year expired as of June 30, 2010.

During the 2A semifinal game, junior Maggie Ham from George West High School turns on the heat against the Lady Longhorns of Early High School.  George West won the game 1-0 in the 11th inning. Ham and her teammates played Brock High School for the 2A championship winning 1-0.

In connection with UIL Centennial Celebrations, the UIL State Track Meet directors Sheila Henderson and Traci Neely recognized the high schools that had won the most track state titles in the past 100 years of the League at the State Meet. The schools were Abilene High School (boys’ team), Andrews High School (boys’ team), Dallas Skyline High School (girls’ team), Refugio High School (boys’ and girls’ teams) and Lancaster High School (girls’ team).
