UIL Official Calendar Changes for 2011-12 School Year

UIL is officially announcing the following changes to the Official Calendar for the 2011-12 school year.
Golf and Tennis
1A District Certification for Golf and Tennis: Change from Wednesday April 11 to Thursday, April 12.
Baseball Playoffs (all conferences)
*Area Deadline – change from Saturday, May 19 to Saturday, May 12
Regional Quarterfinal Deadline – change from Tuesday, May 22 to Saturday, May 19
*No games in this series shall be played prior to Friday of that week due to STAAR tests. No travel is allowed in association with this series until at least the end of the school day on Friday, May 11. If there are any conflicts between an Area baseball series and the State Track Meet, it is recommended that schools schedule only a one-game series.
Softball Playoffs (all conferences)
*Regional Quarterfinal Deadline – change from Saturday, May 19 to Saturday, May 12
Regional Semifinal Deadline – change from Tuesday, May 22 to Saturday, May 19
*No games in this series shall be played prior to Friday of that week due to STAAR tests. No travel is allowed in association with this series until at least the end of the school day Friday, May 11. Legislative Council Approves Changes to Constitution

The Legislative Council approved the following changes to the Constitution and Contest Rules and/or UIL policies and procedures.
All items approved are effective for the 2011-2012 school year, unless otherwise noted. Items that are being submitted on a referendum ballot of UIL member school districts are so noted.
Official Interpretation

Official State Executive Committee Interpretation of section 1270 (b), Soccer Plan, of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules:
A school that is currently classified as 2A could participate in UIL Soccer provided it had previously been classified as a 3A school and was participating in the UIL Soccer Plan in the school year preceding the reclassification and realignment as a 2A school.
Houston Prepared Table Charter School

The State Executive Committee suspended Prepared Table Charter School from all UIL activities until a school administrator appears before the State Executive Committee to answer allegations involving misconduct by coach and players.

Official State Executive Committee Interpretation of section 1206 (e) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules:
Section 1206: SCHOOL PRACTICE And GAME RESTRICTIONS
(e) Athletic/Physical Education Classes. Schools will not be required to grant local credit in physical education for student athletes who have completed two units of physical education credit toward state graduation requirements. Student athletes shall not be enrolled in more than one physical education and/or athletic class whether or not they are receiving credit.
Exceptions (with local school approval): PE Class: Adventure/Outdoor Education; PE Substitutes: JROTC, Cheerleading, Drill Team, Marching Band
