UIL Academics – High School Spelling and Vocabulary
The definition of a word is the determining factor for the correct spelling. Alternate spellings based on etymological information of the word is not acceptable.

Corpus Christi Flour Bluff High School – The State Executive Committee issued Coach Bob Chapman a public reprimand and one-year probation for ejection from a contest.

El Paso Coronado High School – The State Executive Committee voted to issue Coach Raul Lawrence a public reprimand and two-year probation for violations of Section 51, School District Personnel Violations.

La Marque Premier Academy of Learning – The State Executive Committee issued Coach Ronnie Bush a public reprimand and one-year probation for ejection from a contest.

April Official Notices

Coach Sean Fuller
The State Executive Committee voted to issue Coach Sean Fuller a public reprimand with probation for a three-year period until February 20, 2016, and a one-year suspension of all coaching duties in any UIL member school district through February 20, 2014. 

Somerville High School
The State Executive Committee voted to issue a two-year probation with name to appear in the Leaguer for the entire period for the girls’ basketball program through February 20, 2015, and a requirement that Somerville ISD present a written report with regard to safety of all officials, spectators, and student athletes to the Compliance Director, Mr. Ed Stidham, within 10 days.

Justin Solis
The State Executive Committee voted to issue a public reprimand with probation for a three-year period through February 20, 2016, suspension of all coaching duties in any UIL member school district through February 20, 2016, and a requirement that Justin Solis appear before the State Executive Committee before accepting a coaching position in the state of Texas.

James Rick
The State Executive Committee voted to issue a public reprimand with probation for a three-year period through February 20, 2016, and a suspension of all coaching duties in any UIL member school district through February 20, 2015, and a requirement that James Rick appear before the State Executive Committee before accepting a coaching position in the state of Texas.


Cory Elolf
The State Executive Committee issued Coach Cory Elolf a one game suspension for the next playoff contest (2013).  The penalty also included a suspension for the remainder of the 2013 soccer season. Coach Elolf will not be permitted to attend games or scout other schools during his suspension period.  He was also issued a public reprimand with name published in the Leaguer and a one-year probationary period in which he will be required to appear before the State Executive Committee should he violate any other rules of the C&CR or Soccer Manual

Roger Williams
The State Executive Committee issued a public reprimand and two-year probation with name to be published in the Leaguer through April 7, 2015, and a five game suspension during the 2013-2014 school year of all coaching duties, to include communication with other coaches, players, scouting, athletic period participation, for violation of Section 1208 (j)(3), Ejection from a contest while on probation.


Phillip Dober
The State Executive Committee issued Coach Phillip Dober a one-year probation and public reprimand with name to appear in the Leaguer through April 7, 2014, for Violation of Section 1208 (j)(3), Ejection from a contest while on probation.  The school district had already suspended Coach Phillip Dober for four baseball games and issued community service.

The State Executive Committee issued Coach Rod Wright of Richardson Berkner High School a suspension of coaching duties in any UIL member school district until August 22, 2012, with a 2-year public reprimand and probationary period, for Violation of Section 51(a) (6) and (10) and Section 1209 (f)(1).

The State Executive Committee issued Coach Derrick Osborne Little Elm High School a 2-district game suspension for this basketball season and a 2-year public reprimand and probation through January 17, 2014.

The State Executive Committee issued a public reprimand and 2-year probation for Houston Sterling High School through December 11, 2013, for Violations of 52 (a)(4), Failing to comply with applicable state laws regarding extracurricular activities and 1210 (a)(6), Non-compliance with the UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Program.

Rules Changes for 2012-13

All amendments are effective for the 2012-13 school year, unless otherwise noted.

Constitution
• Section 1208 (z) – Alters the UIL Concussion Management Protocol regulations to be in compliance with state law.

• Section 301 (d) – Changes the notice requirements for proposed rules by requiring the notice to include a statement of potential fiscal impact of a proposed rule to member schools.

UIL Official Calendar Changes for 2011-12 School Year

UIL is officially announcing the following changes to the Official Calendar for the 2011-12 school year.

Golf and Tennis
1A District Certification for Golf and Tennis: Change from Wednesday April 11 to Thursday, April 12.

Baseball Playoffs (all conferences)
*Area Deadline – change from Saturday, May 19 to Saturday, May 12
Regional Quarterfinal Deadline – change from Tuesday, May 22 to Saturday, May 19

*No games in this series shall be played prior to Friday of that week due to STAAR tests. No travel is allowed in association with this series until at least the end of the school day on Friday, May 11. If there are any conflicts between an Area baseball series and the State Track Meet, it is recommended that schools schedule only a one-game series.

Softball Playoffs (all conferences)
*Regional Quarterfinal Deadline – change from Saturday, May 19 to Saturday, May 12
Regional Semifinal Deadline – change from Tuesday, May 22 to Saturday, May 19

*No games in this series shall be played prior to Friday of that week due to STAAR tests. No travel is allowed in association with this series until at least the end of the school day Friday, May 11. If there are any conflicts between a regional quarterfinal softball series and the State Track Meet, it is recommended that schools schedule only a one-game series.

Legislative Council Approves Changes to Constitution

Official Interpretation

Official State Executive Committee Interpretation of section 1270 (b), Soccer Plan, of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules:

A school that is currently classified as 2A could participate in UIL Soccer provided it had previously been classified as a 3A school and was participating in the UIL Soccer Plan in the school year preceding the reclassification and realignment as a 2A school.

Houston Prepared Table Charter School
