2020-2021 Spring Tennis Calendar
All Schools (1A through 6A):
April 17 District Certification Deadline
April 26-29 Regional Certification Deadline
May 20-21 State Meet
** Changes to the public health situation may necessitate changes to spring tennis dates.
Deadlines for filing entry forms to appropriate director:
District: 5 days prior to district meet
Regionals: Immediately following district meet. Please review regional director’s specified deadline.
State: Regional results will be sent to the state office by the regional director. The school does not send an entry form or fees to the UIL office.
Tournaments – no student or team representing a member school shall participate in more than eight tournaments (total for tennis and team tennis combined) during the year, excluding one district tennis tournament, the regional tournaments and the state tournament.
- Sites with 16 courts – may have no more than 12 schools and only one level of competitors (Varsity or Junior Varsity) on site at a given time. Number of schools may be increased as long as there are no more than 128 participants on site at a given time.
- Sites with 12-15 courts – may have no more than 10 schools and only one level of competitors (Varsity or Junior Varsity) on site at a given time. Number of schools may be increased as long as there are no more than 96 participants on site at a given time.
- Sites with 8-11 courts – may have no more than 8 schools and only one level of competitors (Varsity or Junior Varsity) on site at a given time. Number of schools may be increased as long as there are no more than 64 participants on site at a given time.
- Sites with less than 8 courts – may have no more than 6 schools and only one level of competitors (Varsity or Junior Varsity) on site at a given time. Number of schools may be increased as long as there are no more than 32 participants on site at a given time.
- Schools with participants should practice social distancing and avoid congregating with other schools
- Participants not actively involved in matches must wear face coverings at all times
- Participants coming on to the court for next matches must wait until the players from prior match completely leave the court and the bench areas have been cleaned
Participating school responsibilities
- Follow all UIL protocols/guidelines
- Follow all local district protocols
- Follow approved USTA sport specific rule considerations
- Self screen, social distance, and face coverings
Host site responsibilities
- Follow all UIL protocols/guidelines
- Follow approved USTA sport specific rule considerations
- Communicate any local protocols in addition to the UIL protocols, to participating teams well in advance of tournament
- Host school must create a plan to clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces around courts/bench areas between
