UIL Cross-Examination Debate Guidebook

Included in the handbook is a chapter devoted to foundations of Cross-Examination debate. This includes a discussion on the nature of policy debate, suggestions for research, as well as an easy to follow breakdown off key arguments in CX debate. Additional chapters include: Case Writing, Speaker Responsibilities, Flowing, the Cross-Examination Questioning Period, Debate Jargon, and an explanation of frequently misunderstood UIL Rules.

This is also the souruce for the current UIL Cross-Examination Debate Rules, Judging Guidelines, Sample Ballots, as well as important information regarding the UIL Tournament Management System. Dr. Rich Edwards of Baylor University, guest contributor, provides a thorough discussion of Internet debate research with recommended links to access online Cross-Examination research for this season's policy debate topic.

Contest Directors will find contest procedures to follow when administering the contest.

We are excited to provide this resource for you and your students. We hope it can play a part in enriching your students’ experiences with Cross-Examination debate this season.
