UIL Academics Capital Conference July 12-13, 2013

Think of it as Coaching School for UIL Academics!

Held each summer at The University of Texas at Austin, the Capital Conference offers everything a speech coach, theatre director, academic coach or coordinator—high school or elementary, middle or junior high—needs to know, from eligibility rules to setting up a budget to prose and poetry selections to researching the cross-examination debate resolution.

Registration on or before June 14  • $65 per person 
Registration after June 14  • $85 per person, available until July 1
On-site registration  • $100 per person

UIL Announces Sponsor Excellence Award Winners

The University Interscholastic League is proud to recognize 16 of the top UIL sponsors in Texas as the 2012 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award winners.

On October 22, 2012, the Standing Committees on Academics, Music, Athletics and Policy met in regular session at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  Based on items considered, the Legislative Council passed the following proposals, if approved by the Commissioner of Education, to be effective August 1, 2013, unless noted otherwise.

Proposed rule changes to be considered by the Legislative Council at its October 21-22 meeting have been posted. These proposals listed were considered by the UIL Legislative Council Standing Committees in June, 2012, and will be considered by the full Council at next month's meeting.

2012 ILPC Documentary Contest Winners Announced

The winners of the 2011-2012 ILPC Documentary Contest have been announced. First place goes to Derrick Brody and Shaquill Harris for their film about Lancaster High School's basketball team. And Alexis Rodriguez from Dripping Springs High School won second place for her documentary on two members of the school's debate team.
