University Interscholastic League Joins the NFHS Network

AUSTIN, TX— The University Interscholastic League will partner with the NFHS Network to deliver additional post-season coverage of Texas high school sports to fans the League announced today. 

UIL events selected by the NFHS Network will be streamed live and available for viewing on demand at www.nfhsnetwork.com.  Fox Sports Southwest will continue to provide coverage for many UIL Championships on-air and online. In addition to broadcasts of selected UIL Championships, the NFHS Network will also provide post-season coverage for many playoff events with broad coverage across all sports.  DVDs for most events will also be available for purchase. 

“The NFHS Network provides the UIL with an expanded opportunity to showcase education-based athletics in the state of Texas. The League’s partnership with the NFHS Network will greatly expand live broadcasts featuring the excellent student athletes participating in UIL activities.   We are excited to have Texas to be one of 42 states featuring high school playoffs and championships nationally on the NFHS Network,” says Charles Breithaupt, Executive Director of the UIL.

As part of this relationship, all UIL high schools will be encouraged to participate in the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program, which provides schools with the broadcasting technology, stat tracking apps, training and support to enable students to broadcast their regular season games and other high school events.  More information about the school broadcast program will be available for schools on the UIL website.

“We proudly welcome the UIL to the NFHS Network, which has become the primary destination for high school sports online broadcasting more than 40,000 events,” said Robert Rothberg, NFHS Network President.  “We have had an exciting launch of a completely redesigned consumer experience that is optimized for Mobile viewing, provides users the ability to clip and share highlights from their events, and integrates live scores and stats from games.  This fall we will be leading off with live broadcasts of the Team Tennis State Tournament, Cross Country State Meet, and the Volleyball State Semifinals.”
