Actor with 35 years in theatre; studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York (Sanford Meisner Approach); Certified to teach the Meisner Approach by the Neighborhood Playhouse. Extensive background in Musical Theatre. Research in acting and Shakespearean Studies. Gradutate and undergraduate work in Oklahoma, Texas and California. Taught high school, community college and university levels in theatre and film in Texas and Colorado. Currently Director of Theatre/Associate Professorat Southeastern Oklahoma University.

Has a BA in Theatre from Texas Wesleyan University. She has directed 17 UIL One-Act Plays, competing from zone to region. Tami believes that theatre is "life" and students gain experience that cannot be obtained anywhere else. She strongly believes in the educational process of UIL OAP.

Holds an M.A. in theatre with an emphasis in directing from Texas State University where he studied, directed and acted under Jay Jennings, Dennis Maganza and Richard Sodders. He has taught in public education for over 22 years and 17 of those as a theatre arts teacher and director. His early motivation and inspiration in UIL OAP came from David Rice, Charlotte Brown, Rick Garcia and Larry Wisdom. In his 17 years as a director of OAP he has had 8 regional appearances, helped to create five separate state qualifying departments, and has taken three different schools to state, winning runner up in 1989. He has also been the host for one of the largest UIL OAP Clinics in Texas for over five years, and has been a contest manager for the 5A Region IV Area 2 contests for two of those years.

Spent one year as technical director for the Alma Thomas Theatre, Southwestern University. Spent 14 years as drama instructor at Killeen High School, Seven years as drama instructor at Cisco Jr. College and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Theatre at McMurry University.

Holds a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis on directing from Southwest Texas State University. He obtained his Masters of Education in Administration in 2001 and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership in 2006 from Sam Houston State University. Scott is currently the Principal of the High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) in Houston ISD. Having been involved in high school OAP and having directed OAP for seven years, Scott now works around the state doing clinics and festivals for both OAP and speech competitions. In addition to his UIL OAP and Speech involvement, Scott's background includes theatre work in New York and community theatre in Texas. He believes strongly in the educational value of the UIL OAP process and feels that a positive OAP experience teaches students unlimited life lessons.

Currently working as a theatre arts middle school educator for Northside ISD in San Antonio. Received his BFA in Theatre from Texas State University while being mentored by Jerry Knight. This is his sixth year teaching. He has contest managed OAP from the start. He has an amazing theatre program with full capacity amount of students and can’t think of a better job to inspire, motivate and instill greatness into young minds.

has been involved in high school educational theatre for almost 40 years as a teacher, director and adjudicator. He has a continuing interest in the student and the creative process on stage. As a director, Larry competed in the UIL OAP contest for twenty years, advancing to regional meet many times and to state twice. His 1981 production won at the state meet. In 2004, he was recognized by the University of Texas Excellence Awards as one of the outstanding high school teachers in the state.

Has a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts, minor in Speech Communications from the U. S. International University in San Diego, California, and a Masters in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M University. She has experience at the secondary level as classroom teacher, director, contest manager and administrator. Additionally she has coached and judged high school speech and debate, performed in community theatre and worked as stage manager.

Nathan Ivan Autrey is a graduate of The University of North Texas with a B.F.A. specialized in Acting and Directing. He has studied Directing in Ireland at The University of Ulster under Carol Ann Upton a direct pupil of Pinter and under Marjorie Hayes a pupil of Growtoski. He is currently a graduate research assistant at Baylor University where he is earning his M.F.A in Directing. Nathan has been a member of T.E.T.A. for the past four years and has directed high school theatre for the past three. In his three years of teaching he has advanced and performed in every round of U.I.L. One Act Play contest except state, as well he has written a theatre curriculum for Irving I.S.D. and Forney I.S.D. Nathan has judged a U.I.L. middle school contest and was a co-founder of the theatre company Broken Gears Project theatre in Dallas, where he has was responsible for directing numerous productions including a production of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea voted by Dallas Morning News one of the top ten plays of 2010 in Dallas. As well as a U.S. premiere of Valerie Goodwin’s The Magdalen Whitewash with a featured talk back with Valerie Goodwin from England. He has also directed at other theatres such as Fort Worth’s Stolen Shakespeare Guild, University of North Texas Theatre Department, Poor Man Theatre Group and Duncanville Community Theatre. Nathan is a current member of TETAAO and looks forward to his future directing projects.

Has 14 years of experience in working with students in theatre. Currently the Director of Education & Community Engagement at the Alley Theatre in Houston. Started as an education intern at the Dallas Theatre Center. Taught and directed at the Plano Children’s Theatre, The Boars Head Theatre, the Lansing Community College, Florida Rep Theatre and the Shakespeare Company of D.C. It is important to me that students collaborate and appreciate the creative process.

I am a forty year veteran of the One-Act Play process as an actor, director, contest manager, crew member and as an audience member. I appreciate productions where the company commits to the director’s choices. Whether the tears are of laughter, joy or heartache, I hoped to be moved by any production. Have been fortunate to direct four different schools to the State Meet, winning twice and many productions advancing to Region.

My first exposure to UIL OAP was as a freshman in high school and I loved it! For the next three years it was always my favorite time of year. In college I served as contest manager for two years at the Regional Level for 1A. Since I started teaching at the Private School Level, I have directed numerous one-acts at the high school & junior high levels and for the private school competition which is based on the UIL rule system.

Lived in midwest for 15 years, working professionally at Milwaukee Repertory, Madison Repertory, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, New American Theatre. Eight years experience teaching theatre to high school and college students.

Currently an Associate Professor of Drama at Tarrant County College, Northwest. Taught theatre at the high school and college levels at Abilene Christian University and Trinity Valley Community College. Current member of Actors’ Equity Association. Recieved MFA from UNC-Chapel Hill and PlayMakers Repertory Company. Has performed in numerous productions as a professional actor and has designed lighting for many professional productions in the Dallas area.

Participant in the OAP process since a HS freshman, I have acted, managed, directed and judged well over 100 productions since 1984. Especially active in the clinic situation. Developed and directed As Is original four productions. Directed the premier of Wm. L. Shirer’s The Consul’s Wife . Directed Cloud 9 and several original plays and musicals, world premiers, in Los Angeles (by David Rabe) and at Circle Repertory in New York.

Ashley has 8 years of experience with the UIL One-Act Play Regional Competition. She has been involved as a student, a competition coordinator and a director. She currently teaches at Prestonwood Christian Academy and directs the PSIA One-Act play. She has a bachelor’s degree in Theatre with an emphasis in acting and directing and graduate level education from UNT in secondary education.

Carla McCollum Brantley is a native West Texan who holds an MA from Texas Tech in Speech and Theatre. She has done post graduate studies in theatre at the University of London and at the University of South Florida. She has adjudicated plays in Florida and Kentucky and directed over 60 main stage productions and one-act plays. During her Texas teaching years, she also coached speech and debate. While an assistant professor and coordinator of theatre programs at St. Petersburg College and Asbury University, she adjudicated Florida and Kentucky Theatre Conference and Thespian shows on the district and state levels. In addition, Carla has experience as a voice and modeling coach, a producer and as casting director for film and television in Florida and Kentucky Helping students, directors and audiences experience the fullness of the theatre experience is her passion.

Professor of Theatre at West Texas A&M University. After receiving his BA he served as a professional intern and company member at the Dallas Theatre Center where through Trinity University he earned his MFA. He has directed over seventy productions at WTAMU including the award-winning The Homage That Follows, which advanced to the National Finals of the American College Theatre Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

I have taught and directed at the high school level for eighteen years. I have taken five shows to the State Meet Contest placing 3rd in Conference 3A in 2002 and 1st in Conference 2A in 2006.

I have taught high school and middle school theatre arts for thirty years in Texas. I have been a member of TETA for over 25 years. I have been involved in UIL on all levels of One-Act Play since 1976.

Andrea Burghart worked extensively with Lynn Murray in the UIL Drama office during college, working State Meet and SuperConferences. She has served as a critic judge before and is back in Texas with her masters from New York University ready to judge again. Her strengths are acting,movement, creative drama and musical theatre.

Mike has worked with local and international artists on world premiers, including “When the World was Green” with Joe Chaiken and Sam Shepard for the Atlanta Olympics. Credits include design work for the All-State Sugar Bowl and Grammy Award winner Leahy. He has designed, tech'ed or directed over 500 productions and is a respondent for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. Mike has served as Chair of Theatre at Huntington University and currently teaches at Angelo State University.

I have had many wonderful experiences in theatre. I was a participant in OAP. After being involved in the theatre program at West Texas A & M University, I taught theatre and directed OAP for six years. I have been a contest manager and truly enjoy all aspects of OAP.

After completing her bachelor’s, Christi became a middle school theatre teacher in Amarillo, Texas. She taught for two years and decided to pursue her MFA. Christi graduated from Texas Tech and became an AO member in 1992. She then taught for a few years before relocating to La Vegas, NV, where she continued to teach theatre for 8 years. Now back in Amarillo, she loves bringing the magic of the theatre to her middle schoolers!

Michael has directed and co-directed more than 60 shows. At the UIL level, Michael has had a state appearance, numerous regional appearances and has contest managed for 12 years. He completed his master's degree in business and currently owns and operates his own production studio. He is a creative consultant and the official photographer for several professional companies and events.

Larry has directed one act plays in conferences 1-4A, advancing to area, region and state along the way. Additionally, he has directed more than 30 shows at the high school, elementary and community theatre levels. Several of his students have gone on to either college or professional theatre in New York, California, Washington state and here in Texas.

BA, Illinois State University, 1976; MFA, The University of Texas at Austin, 1984. Rod currently serves as Executive Director of Creative Services for the University of Texas System where he and his colleagues recently received five Lone Star Emmy Awards for creating and producing the PBS series, State of Tomorrow. He has taught and directed at the the University of Wisconsin and the University of Texas. While at UT Austin he also served as the Artistic Director for the Office of University Relations, creating and producing large-scale, special events for the university - and he received UT’s Margaret C. Berry Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Life. Rod conducts directing and curriculum development workshops throughout the nation and has served as a guest artist/instructor for the Facing History and Ourselves Program in Switzerland as well as the Czech Republic. He has adjudicated UIL One-Act Plays for over twenty years, including the State Contests in both Class 4A and 1A. He has directed over 100 productions. While living in New York, Rod served as Associate Director for GreenPlays, creating and directing several new musicals and cabarets. He has directed over 90 productions. Recently he produced and directed the UT Performing Arts Center’s 20th Anniversary Gala starring Tommy Tune, Linda Eder and The Broadway Tenors, as well as the We’re Texas Milestone Celebration featuring Judy Collins. Most recently Rod directed Slammer for New York’s Fringe Festival, Assassins for the University of Texas, The Bat for Austin Lyric Opera’s adaptation of Die Fledermaus and The Music Man for Zilker Theatre Productions. For the last two seasons Rod stage managed the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Area Tour starring the Rockettes. Rod is a proud alumnus of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.

Dr. Marion Castleberry is Professor of Theatre Arts at Baylor University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Theatre and Film studies from Louisiana State University. A member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Dr. Castleberry has worked professionally as a director, actor, and producer. He has directed for numerous Regional and Off-Broadway theatres and his 2006 Ensemble Studio Theatre production of Horton Foote’s The Traveling Lady was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for “Best Revival of a Play.” Dr. Castleberry was recipient of the 2011 Texas Educational Theatre Association’s Educator of the Year Award. He strongly supports educational theatre in Texas and has served as a UIL one-act play adjudicator for 35 years.

I am a current first-year medical student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. I have been deeply interested in theatre all of my life, and had the opportunity to participate in OAP during high school. This experience was one of the most formative of my secondary school years. I absolutely love everything about the contest, and am thrilled to be in a position to help pass on this passion to current students. I graduated from Yale University in 2008 with a double major in Humanities and Theatre Studies, and with a directorial focus within the Theatre Studies major. I acted in many shows while at Yale, and had the opportunity to direct two major productions. While in college, I was also able to study at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) for a summer session, focusing on acting Shakespeare. After college, I moved to Austin for two years to finish my pre-medical requirements. During that time I was able to take an upper-level acting class UT, and to act in short scenes for undergraduate film students, as well as in a short film for a graduate student that premiered at Alamo Drafthouse. I also spent one month interning with Austin Shakespeare. Beyond this, I have spent the previous 7 summers serving as the Head of Drama at Camp Mystic for Girls (Kerrville, TX) during the month of June. I worked with girls ages 8-18, teaching 4-5 classes each day and culminating the month with a full-length performance (or two) that I both directed and technically designed. Concerning the OAP contest, I had the opportunity to critic judge a 3A workshop last spring as well as to contest manage for two zone 2A contests and a 3A contest. I'm looking forward to my current role as an adjudicator, and am thankful to be able to participate in such a fantastic program.

I am completing my PhD in Fine Arts at Texas Tech University. I have been in numerous productions at Tech and have acting and directing experience in my own non-profit theatre group. I have also taught workshops for UIL students and directors. I recently directed a high school one-act for PSIA. Our productions won second place at the State level and won audience favorite.

I am a Texas certified theatre arts teacher. I am completing a PhD in Fine Arts at Texas Tech University. My dissertation project is a performing arts school. The school is in its 2nd year with over 150 students. I taught high school for three years and directed the one-act play. I work for Lynn Elms at Texas Tech running the regional competitions.

I am the founder of Take A Bow Theatre company and served as artistic director of the theatre division of the Art Studio, Inc. in Beaumont. I began teaching children’s theatre workshops while serving as adjunct at Grayson College and now produce and lead the Shakespeare in Shorts summer youth project. My own UIL work and One-Act Play experience earned me a scholarship to UT-Austin. Since graduation I have enriched my education with study abroad and throughout the US including a Master’s in theatre from Lamar University. I have taught, directed and written plays for all ages for more than 25 years.

Educational theatre had been a part of my life my sophmore year at Westchester High School in 1967. After high school plays, I went on to TCU and the bigger stage. High school teaching and directing followed with OAP’s, children’s theatre, musicals and straight plays. I have been a member of TETA - attending many conventions and workshops. Now I am retired - working in the community theatre - on the board, directing and acting. Nothing prepares you for life like theatre.

I have been involved in UIL activities and a sponsor for 43 years with awards in theatre, speech and current events. Retired from Graham ISD after 40 years.Currently adjunct community college instructor. Named 2000 Texas Teacher of the Year.

has retired after directing UIL One-Act Plays for twenty-five years. She has judged and presented workshops, worked in professional (Equity) theatre as well as directing and choreographing for local theatres.

I have been teaching 26 years and have directed over 50 plays. I currently direct huge productions of The Christmas Carol at my church with over 100 cast members. I have great passion for theatre and education.

Michael received his BFA in acting from Florida State University, followed by his MFA in directing from Illinois State University. Over the years Michael has taught at California State University and Bakersfield College. Currently, Michael is the Director of Drama and Humanities Division Chair at Texarkana College. He is also the Artistic Director for the Texarkana Repertory Company.

Jerry Cotton has taught speech and theatre classes at the college level for 37 years. As a professional actor, he has appeared on stage in over 50 productions including college, community, and professional theatre, and he has served as a theatre director for over 35 years. As a professional film and television actor, Dr. Cotton has worked in over 25 productions including principal roles in Walker-Texas Ranger, Dallas American Outlaws, Walking Tall: The Payback, Little Boy Blue and Friday Night Lights. He holds the Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Theatre Education from Hardin-Simmons University, a Master of Arts in Theatre from Texas State University and the Ph.D. in Theatre from Texas Tech University, where George Sorensen was the major professor for his dissertation. He has served as a critic judge for 25 years.

holds the MFA in Acting/Directing from The University of Arizona (Tucson) and the BFA in Acting from Sam Houston State University. He has acted in over 30 productions including UIL OAP having performed at the State level twice. His five productions for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival have received over 50 collective awards at the state, region and national levels. He has coached five Irene Ryan Scholarship Regional Acting Finalists including a National Finalist who performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 2004. He has been a UIL OAP judge since 1997 and has judged the State Meet for conferences A, AA and AAAAA. He is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Austin Community College and is currently Chair of the Adjudicators Organization of TETA.

is a Professor of Theatre at McMurry University. His specializations include the teaching of directing, musical theatre and voice. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Hardin-Simmons University and MA and PhD degrees from Louisiana State University. He has directing and design credits for more than 70 major productions and is head of a childrens theatre troupe sponsored by Young Audiences of Abilene.

Stephen is an assistant professor of theatre at West Texas A & M University specializing in acting and voice and movement. He has also served as an education director for a community children’s theatre academy in Texas and a recruiter for a performing arts high school in Chicago. He currently directs at the college level and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association.

Dr. Crawford has served as a critic judge for over 30 years. He holds a PhD from Texas Tech University in theatre with specialization in Directing, Acting and Playwrighting. he completed his graduate work at Stephen F. Austin State University and undergraduate degrees at North Texas State University and Tyler Junior College. He is an award-winning playwright adding New York productions to this resume with publications through Player’s Press. He has won the TETA Educator of the Year, Watson Wise Chair for Teaching Excellence, Baker Excellence in Teaching Award and a Piper Nominee.

Genevieve S. Croft is a graduate of The University of North Texas, where she earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts. In May of 2012, Ms. Croft will receive a graduate degree (M. A. in Theatre Arts/Liberal Studies) from Southern Methodist University. Ms. Croft is currently Director of Drama and Debate at Duncanville High School (5A). She has worked in various professional and community theatres across the Dallas Fort Worth area and has also worked in Radio Communications during her time at UNT. Ms. Croft also has additional experience in working with CBS RADIO-Dallas (98.7 KLUV-FM) in the Promotions and Programming Departments. Ms. Croft has been involved with UIL OAP since high school (Alumna of Duncanville High School) and has also worked alongside several Contest Managers. In addition, she has also served as a Backstage Crew Chief for multiple competitions.

My first experience of UIL was in Edison HS in San Antonio. I made All Star Cast! Later I judged UIL, Contest managed, etc for 25 years while at UT-Pan American in Edinburg. During that time I also led acting workshops, creative drama workshops and voice workshops all over Texas. The last 13 years I have been at Furman University in Greenville, SC.

Pubic Schools 19 years in classroom, 3 as administrator, 10 years at Trinity Valley College, 17 years participation as OAP participant, 7 consecutive State OAP appearances, Runner-up 2 times. Involved with community theatre for over 38 years, acting and directing.

Gary Davis has been a public school educator for the past 22 years. He has a degree in Advertising Art & English , as well as a Masters in Educational Administration. Before becoming an administrator, he taught Speech and Theatre for 14 years in Texas and New Mexico. His students achieved many honors in UIL theatre and speech competitions. In 9 years of UIL competition, his OAP productions advanced to the regional level 8 times and to the state meet twice. Gary is an avid, life-long supporter of the UIL and all of its activities.

I have worked with theatre in the public schools for the past 29 years. I have done Junior High and High School theatre productions. I have also performed in community theatre productions. I have attended the UIL OAP State Meet for the past 23 years. I know what advances to State. I have dealt with advancing and non-advancing casts.

Has taught theatre in Texas since 1992, She directed at the high school level for 15 years and currently administers and teaches in the Summer MA program for Theatre Educators at the University of Houston where she also teaches undergraduate acting. Jackie has directed over 50 full-length productions, 15 one-act plays and has led her OAP companies to four state meets. Jackis is also an adjunct professor in the college of Education at the University of St. Thomas where she teaches arts integration across the curriculum.

I have been performing since the age of 7. I began directing 15 years ago. I have competed in OAP for seven years as a director. I have performed in OAP numerous times.

Lisa is an educator who enjoys professional opportunities as a director. Her teaching experiences include San Jacinto College South, DePaul University, Lubbock Christian Unversity and South Plains College. She has competed in both TJCSTA and ACTF. as a professional director, she received a Joseph Jefferson nomination for Best Director in Chicago. Lisa enjoys teaching all aspects of theatre, communication and film.

Rachel Dickson currently teaches theater at Prairie View A&M University. She has directed, acted, facilitated workshops and taught theatre for ages four to one hundred throughout the Houston area for many years. Her special interest in issue-based theater leads her to various educational institutions that address the needs of young people. Rachel has taught for over 20 years, incorporating theatre principals throughout.

graduated North Texas State University in 1964 with a BFA in Theatre/Speech and a BS in Secondary Education. He was a high school theatre teacher and One-Act Play director for thirty years. The last nineteen years were at Westlake High School. He is a strong believer in the U.I.L. One Act Play and its present and past benefits to the students involved.

Koy has a B.F.A. from Sam Houston Sate University. He has also studied at Mercury Studios (1997) and most recently completed course work in script analysis at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas. From 1997-2001, Koy was represented by the Pastorini-Bosby Talent Agency where he worked in shoots for companies such as Sonic, Compaq Computers and Palais Royal. Koy works with the performing arts program at Concordia Lutheran High School where the drama team won a first place in the 2009 PSIA 4A OAP state contest. He has directed several T.A.P.P.S. acting and speech competitions, placing in the state finals in 2007 and 2009-2011. Koy enjoys working with students and believes in promoting a safe and creative learning environment.

Mrs. Domingue received a BS in Speech, and two MS degrees, one in Theatre and the other in Educational Leadership, all from Lamar University. She is a veteran (30 year) teacher, having taught Theatre for 15 years. As theatre teacher and director, she directed and produced numerous plays, including several musicals. She directed High School UIL One Act Plays and her troupes advanced progressively each year and garnered many zone, district, area, and region awards. She also served as District UIL Coordinator and recently has held the post of Dean of Instruction until her retirement. Her goal in judging UIL OAPs is to be a resource for student troupes and teachers in their journeys to create community on stage and with their audiences.

holds a PhD in Theatre from Michigan State University. He is currently Associate Chair of Theatre & Dance at UT-Austin and has also taught at Michigan State University and Penn State University. Dr. Douglas has been a guest director at the Juilliard School, North Carolina School of the Arts and the New York University Graduate Acting Program. He has also taught at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. He has acted in over 100 productions, including Broadway, Off-Broadway and numerous regional theatres.

Dr. Laurie Doyle received her PhD in Fine Arts from Texas Tech University with a specialization in Theatre. Her areas of study were acting/directing and arts administration. She has taught at Lubbock Christian University for 27 years in the areas of Music and Theatre and is an AssociateProfessor and Chair of the Department in Communication/Fine Arts. She has directed numerous plays, musicals and reviews while at LCU.

received her BA in Drama/Speech and MA in English/Theatre from Texas Tech University and taught Speech/English/ Drama in Texas Public Schools for 32 years--30 of those in Snyder. In 1990 she retired from teaching in public schools, and in 1991 helped establish the Ritz Community Theatre in Snyder, becoming its managing director. The Ritz produces three or four plays a season. Through the years, Eleanor has had extensive experience teaching, directing and adjudicating all age groups. She believes the UIL-OAP contest should be and can be a positive learning experience for all involved.

Directly involved with Theatre Arts for over 30 years. Worked as a producer, director, production manager in film and television for 15 years. Taught Theatre Arts for the past six years on the high school level. Participated in UIL OAP at the State level in 2003, and regional level 2 years. Have been involved in UIL OAP since 1972. Graduated with masters from New York University and now works for university summer programs.

I have been teaching at the University Level for 11 years in theatre. I’m currently persuing my PhD in fine arts focusing on acting/directing and Theatre History. I was the assistant director for a musical theatre group for eight years and have a great passion for all areas of art.

Lynn taught high school theatre and English. She believes the UIL experience enhances the goal of providing our society with lifelong learners.

Served as department chair for Communication & Theatre at Odessa College. Contest Manager for Zone thru Regional contests for 20 years. Directed the OAP for Andrews HS for 6 years. “I believe OAP should be about the students and what they can learn - I want it to be a positive learning experience.”

I am currently a middle school theatre teacher. I went to college as a theatre performance major. After I completed my courses, I went back and certified as a teacher. I am currently in my second year of teaching.

Having completed my BS in Theatre at Howard Payne University in 2002. I began my studies toward the MA in Theatre at UT-Pan American. My studies there ranged from history to design to management. While compleating the MA I had the privelege of presenting a paper at tan international conference in Italy and having my first full-length play produced by the Still Here Acting Group. In 2005 I began studying for the PhD at Texas Tech. While at Tech I have distinguished myself as a two-time RROAPS winning playwright and exemplary student and teacher.

is Director of Theatre and a tenured faculty member in the Department of Theatre and Speech Communication at San Antonio College. He earned his undergraduate degree at Oberlin College in Ohio and his Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. Charles is an active member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association and the Texas Adjudicator’s Association. He was honored to be named Educator of the Year, Community College Division, in January of 2005. Mr. Falcon has judged every level of UIL OAP including the State contest in 2004 & 2011. He is a past recipient of the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award (2003) and participated in the Oxford University Round Table in the summer of 2007.

After comming back to college, having earned a BA degree from Dallas Baptists College no DBU in Theatre, I realized that teaching and theatare were my true loves. I have taught at Tyler Junior College for over 15 years where I have directed many productions conducted Teacher Workshops in make-up and sound and was awarded The Excellence in Teaching Award by the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development in 2003. I received the Tyler Junior College Endowed Teaching Chair award in 2005.

Ms. Ferrell has a Masters in Theatre from Texas Woman’s University. She currently serves on faculty at Mountain View College and Northwest High School. Amberley has been directing for twelve years, 8 of which have included the UIL One-Act Play from zone to state. Ms. Ferrell is nationally recognized in competitive forensics and currently coaches the team at Northwest High School.

After teaching Theatre Arts for Alief ISD for 24 years she retired in 2000. In Alief Jeanette was at Alief-Hastings HS as theatre director, department chair and chair of the Performing Arts Department. She has been active as an actress in community theatre asn a critic judge for UIL OAP since 2001. Currently she is teaching senior English at Windfern HS in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

is Theatre Director at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. He holds BA and MA degrees from Corpus Christi State University and his training is in acting, design and technical theatre. He has taught both the high school and college levels and has been at Del Mar College and a member of TETAAO since 1988. Kim believes strongly in the value of the UIL OAP process and possesses a deep commitment to all levels of educational theatre.

Alison is a director and faculty member at Texas A & M Corpus Christi. She has worked professionally with the Alley Theatre, the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, London’s RADA, Royal National and Royal Shakespeare companies. She ran the Actor Factory for four years prior to teaching at Florida State University and working on the Broadway musical A Tale of Two Cities.

Currently serving as Director of Fine Arts for Grand Prairie ISD. She is a founding member of the Texas Theatre Administrators Association. She has directed over 20 UIL one-act plays with numerous advancing shows.

I have spent 21 years in public education including numerous State qualifications, including a State Championship. I conduct teacher training workshops focusing on UIL One-Act Play production. I have taught and directed at all levels A- AAAAA. TETA Theatre Educator of the Year, 1996. Emmy nomination, The Children’s Dignity Project, hosted by Oprah Winfrey.

Bill taught 4 years of high school theatre and is in this 10th year of college/university teaching in theatre. He has been involved with UIL OAP since his teens as an actor, director, contest manager and judge. He is the Head of Acting/Directing in the Theatre and Dance Department at Texas Tech.

Eric Geyer is a published playwright with over 50 productions of his work throughout North America. He was a UIL One-Act Play State Champion as a student in 1991 and Private Schools Interscholastic Association One-Act Play State Champion as a Director 6 of the last 8 years. He is currently a Teacher of Middle School and Upper School Speech and Competitive Drama at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio where he recently coached the 2010 Texas Forensic Association State Champion in Duet Acting.

Currently holds a bachelor of arts degree in both music and theatre from Texas A& M University – Commerce and is Texas State Certified in all level music and theatre arts. She has eight years teaching experience in general music, choir and theatre in the Dallas and McKinney school districts and has served as One Act Play director on both the middle and high school levels. She has also been active in the DFW theatre scene as both a performer and technician. She has been involved in UIL OAP since she herself participated as a middle school student and would love to contribute to helping young students grow and learn not only more about the art of theatre, but also self confidence, teamwork, and dedication through the wonderful OAP process.

Has been a critic judge at all levels for years. Background includes directing, teaching and producing at the college and regional theatre level for 11 years. Has directed over 85 productions during his career. Has taught stagecraft, directing, acting, theory, theatre history, forensics and speech. Has an MA with 66 hours in theatre/speech.

Retired in 2008 after 30+ years of teaching theatre to grades 7-12. Multiple State appearances in UIL One-Act Play, Interp, Extemp and Debate. I strongly believe in the UIL system of promoting excellence in our secondary subjects.

Has spent over 30 years as a Theatre educator and Arts administrator - teaching, producing, and directing theatre programs and activities in public and private schools, university and community center cultural and performing arts programs. Has taught and directed high school, middle school, elementary and university level students and adults. Participated 20 years as a UIL OAP director. Served as an OAP Contest host and middle school Festival adjudicator. As an EdTA representative has currently adjudicated one-act play marathon entries for the International Thespian Festival and scholarship auditions at various state level Thespian Conferences. Retired from the classroom in 2008. My participation as a member of the TEA Creative Drama Network in the 1980’s was a prelude for my current work in the Education Department at the Children’s Museum of Houston.

has over seven years of teaching, directing and artistic direction experience at the collegiate and community level. She has her BA in theatre from Hardin-Simmons and her MA in Theatre History and Criticism from Texas State University. She has also studied theatre at Cambridge University England and is currently working on her PhD from Regent University.

Sammy has been involved in teaching theatre and the UIL OAP process for 30 years. She received her BAT from Sam Houston State and MA from the University of Houston with her degrees both in Theatre. Having directed 30 one act plays she believes strongly in the educational value of the process. Making UIL OAP a positive experience for children is her priority. She is now retired and looks forward to crossing the gap between director and judge.

Rick Green relocated in 2010 from Chicago to San Antonio. He has been acting for over 30 years and has appeared in numerous theatrical productions. Film & Television credits include Child's Play, Major League, and HBO Television Special: Richard Lewis. Rick also served as Board President for HealthWorks Theatre in Chicago from 2004-2007 and was awarded the Ruby Slipper Award for Outstanding Comunity Service. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in speech & theatre and a Master's Degree in organizational communication & theatre at Eastern Michigan University. Rick is currently teaching acting and speech communication at San Antonio College and The Art Institute of San Antonio. At St. Mary's University, introducing students to theatre as a fine art is his topic in hand.

is Associate Professor of Theatre at Panola College. Clay taught theatre in high school for three years and has completed all course work for his PhD in acting/directing at Texas Tech University.

Andrew holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Playwriting and Lyrics from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama/Literature from Bennington College of Vermont. Andrew has taught playwriting for High School for the Performing & Visual Arts as well as created and implemented a musical theatre performance program within that school's theatre department. Andrew has directed dozens of staged works and worked as a professional actor on stages throughout Houston. As a singer/songwriter, Hager recorded his debut album, Big Iron Skillet at Sony Music Stodios. Andrew is the author of nine published works on the history of popular music, including Song & Dance, a retrospective of Broadway musicals that was published by Barnes & Noble Press with Sony Music.He is currently the School Programs Manager for the Alley Theatre.

I have spent 20 years in professional theatre, 12 years in education. I ran the Baylor University costume department for eight years. I worked professionally in New York City Off-Broadway, did union work, have international experience as production design consultant for music video and filem and I have many ongoing product development projects. I have been on the faculty at Del Mar College since September 2005. I am tri-lingual (english, spanish & persian). I have lived, worked and taught all over the world - Europe, South America & the Middle East.

Lisa Hale was theatre director, UIL academic coordinator and fine arts department chair for Plano East Senior HS for 27 years. She has made two appearances at the State Meet placing first runner up in 2004 and State Champion in 2006. Lisa holds a BFA in Drama Education from UT-Austin and her masters from UNT-Denton. Lisa was named secondary educator of the year by TETA in 2009.She now teaches theatre at Collin College.

With 17 years of hands-on experience in both community and high school theatre programs, he has an established base in acting, directing, set and costume design, as well as the whole UIL One-Act Play experience. Having stage managed as well as contest managing on both a 1A and 3A level Mr. Haley’s passionate interest in theatre and theatre education have led to the next level of judging and clinician work.

My theatre affiliation began with a minor emphasis in my university studies. From there I began teaching a blend of English and Theatre and now have 25 years experience. I have produced mulitiple One-Act Plays, and have hosted contests five times.

I have an associates, Bachelors and MFA in Theatre. My areas of specialty cover comedy techniques, movement, stage combat, acting. I have trained in viewpoints and suzuki method, voice in Linklater, Adler, Stanislavski, Alexander, Uta Hagen, Shakespeare and Greeks. 10 years stage combat training and experience.

I have taught a variety of theatre courses at City College in New York City over a seven year period. I developed a course of study using the performing arts at PS 132 in the Bronx over a five year period. I relocated to San Antonio and taught Theatre Arts for four years at King Middle School. Presently I teach Directing and act in the Theatre program at St. Philips College.

Kathy Harvey participated in the One-Act Play process as a student and high school director. She has a BA in theatre and an MA in English and Counseling. She is a strong supporter of the UIL organization.

I have taught in the public schools for seven years in Texas. In 2004, I went to Bowling Green State to work on my PhD in theatre. I have worked as a fight director on many shows.

taught theatre for 11 years at the jr. high and high school levels in the Houston area and in Carthage. She was Theatre Director at Panola College 1978 - 2007where she taught academic classes in theatre as well as directing four shows a year. Panola participates in the TJCSTA play festival. Liz is an active UIL/OAP Contest Manager.

I am a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where I received my BFA. I began teaching in 1991 and directing the UIL One-Act Play. I have experienced success in one-act as far as the Regional Level. I went back to school in 2008 at the University of Houston Clear Lake where I received my masters in Educational Leadership. I am currently working at Texas City High School as an Alternative Education at Risk Coordinator.

Chair of speech/drama for Lone Star College-North Harris ( formerly North Harris College). Directing plays and coaching speech team since 1994. Has a BA in theatre from the University of St. Thomas and an MA in Drama (with an emphasis in directing) from the University of Houston.

Has been directing the OAP for the last nine years. His students have received best actor and best actress awards. He currently serves as the vice president of the executive board of Texas Thespians as well as festival director for the Texas chapter of the educational theater association. Jeremy is no longer actively directing One-Act Play.

Has a masters degree in theatre from Stephen F. Austin State University and 21 hours in playwrighting from the University of Georgia. He has taught theatre on the college level for the last 10 years and has been a critc judge for the past 10 years also.

Mark has taught and worked in all areas of theatre for over 20 years and is dedicated to the theory of the theatre generalist. He believes in the best aspects of the OAP and attempts to make this a wonderful experience for all involved.

Ms. Howard-Schwind has a BFA from UT-Austin, an M. Ed from UT Arlington and a doctorate from the University of North Texas. She enjoys contest managing as well as judging. She directed at the high school level nine years

Professor of Theatre at McMurry University. He holds a BFA in Theatre from Stephen F. Austin, a MFA in Design and Playwriting from Trinity University and additional graduate work in Fine Arts at Texas Tech. He has been a critic judge since 1980, judging at all levels throughout the state.

Dr. Nancy Jo Humfeld has taught at the university level for 25 years, directing over 60 plays, musicals, and operas. She has performed professionally with several different theatre companies as well as being a guest director. Additionally, Dr. Humfeld is Artistic Director of the Lyric Performing Arts Company in Brownwood where she directs, performs and oversees productions. She views UIL as a wonderful extension of the classroom experience and appreciates the opportunity to reinforce the director’s teaching.

has been involved with educational theatre for over 38 years. He holds degrees in theatre from St. Petersburg Jr. College and Florida State University and has done additional course work at Wake Forest University and the University of North Texas. His committment to educational theatre in Texas goes back to 1966 when he first came to Texas Woman’s University as a teacher, director and UIL/OAP critic judge.

Taught speech and drama at Wharton County Junior College for fifteen years and was theatre director for ten years. She holds a BS in Theatre from Southwest Texas State University and a MA in Theatre from Stephen F. Austin State University. Cathy taught high school theatre for ten years and has been a critic judge and contest manager for 20 years, judging at all competition levels including State Meet in 1997. She returned to the high school classroom at Kingwood and is currently at Katy ISD.

received his Associate degree at Paris Junior College; BA and MA degrees from the Univ. of Houston, Clear Lake; and his PhD from Texas Tech University. He taught for three years at North Hopkins High School while completing his doctorate. Upon leaving North Hopkins he accepted a position teaching Speech and Theatre at San Jacinto College, Central Campus. He is the Chairman of the Fine Arts Department and Director of Theatre and Film at San Jacinto College, Central Campus.

Has a MA in Speech and Theatre and a BS in education from West Texas State University. She has served as Director of Theatre at Tascosa High School and Amarillo High School. Lynae has directed twelve one-act plays and is committed to the process and believes in the benefits of UIL to both directors and actors.

Mr. Jeffries holds a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Christian University and a Master of Fine Arts from Trinity University/Dallas Theatre Center. He retired from secondary school teaching after 32 years in 1995. He has taught at several colleges and universities in Texas including in San Antonio, Incarnate Word, Trinity, St. Philip’s and San Antonio College. During his years of competition in the UIL-OAP, he appeared at the State 5A level with a number of shows. He has two first place awards. He was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Theatre Education Association and has recieved the Founder’s Award from the Texas Educational Theatre Association as well as being Designated Emeritus in 2009. The San Antonio Theatre Coalition appointed him a living legend in 2010 and he was the University Interscholastic League’s State Meet Honoree in 2011. since his retirement, he has founded Texas Theatre Consultants and worked with teachers and students across the country helping with curriculum, production and performance. he recently published seven of his UIL cuttings through Samuel French/Baker’s Plays and has a number in preparation for an anthology next year. In his spare time he has worked with the Globe Theatre in London and the National Theatre of the Czech Republic. He has just completed teaching three years at San Antonio College.

I have had the experience of enjoying the UIL One-Act Play experience as a contest manager, director and audience member since the mid ‘80’s. Theatre can open the door to many opportunities and adventures and OAP provides a way for students to grow. I view OAP as a win-win situation for every individual involved in the process. I enjoy OAP festivals as well as the actual OAP contest.

Holds a BFA in Theatre from Texas State University with an emphasis in acting. Earned a master's degree in 2005 in Education Administration. He has been in education for 12 years as a high school and middle school theatre teacher, high school and middle school principal, and athletics coach. He has also been involved in several community and semi-professional theatre productions as an actor, director, and playwright.

I have a love of theatre starting with a workshop with Lynn Murray. I continued my experience with Maureen McIntyre at Sam Houston State and finished at University of Houston under Sydney Berger. I have directed OAP since 1975 until retirement in 011. I have taught al levels of theatre, starting at 6th grade up to 12th grade, including Theatre I-IV and Independent studies. I began as an English major and got here as soon as I could. I have had numerous trips to the regional level and one trip in 1985 to UIL OAP State Meet.

Acted in 78 plays, directed over 200 plays including 14 UIL One-Act Plays. Director of Theatre at Cy-Fair College in NHMCCD. Judged approximately 18 UIL OAPs. Member of Actors Equity Association.

Ms. Kaplan is a freelance theatre artist, writing, directing and teaching at various universities and theatres throughout the country. Locally, she has directed at Main Street Theater, University of Texas Medical Branch, The Strand Theatre, ETC and Stage Left Productions. Her teaching credits include, The Alley Theatre, San Jacinto College South campus, Main Street Theater, University of Texas Medical Branch. She has been teaching writing, acting, directing and curriculum development for 16 years in theatres, schools, after-school programs and other organizations.

In addition to a BA and MA, Ray has earned post-masters hours at UCLA, Un. of Arkansas, UNT, SFASU and has studied privately with Bob Kelly in New York. His teaching experience (1961-2003) includes 3 years of junior high, 1 year of senior high, 4 years of university and 34 years of community college experience. Over 40 years he has directed, workshopped, hosted and/or judged UIL OAPs and, for many years, served on TETA’s UIL Advisory Committee.

I have been involved with theatre since junior high school, participated in theatre in high school and junior college. Went to University of Houston - Clear Lake got degree and taught Junior High Theatre for 10 years. Got masters and taught at San Jacinto as adjunct moved to New Orleans, taught theatre at Contemporty Arts Center and worked as General Manager of Southern Repertory Theatre in French Quarter.

love for One-Act Play and Theatre was ignited as a high school student under Kelly Russell and David Stevens, where she had the good fortune of participating at the 5A State One-Act Play Competition.  She went on to earn a BFA in performance from Southern Methodist University and and MA in Theatre History from Texas State with an emphasis in directing.  She has also studied at the British American Dramatic Academy in Oxford and Shakespeare & Company.  Kelsey is a member of Actors’ Equity and has earned several B. Iden Payne and Austin Critics’ Table awards and nominations for her stage work. She has taught at the middle school, high school, and university levels, and has also directed professionally in Austin.  Her aim as a critic judge is to support the directors in their educational goals for their students and to provide the students a positive OAP experience.

Carrie currently teaches Acting and Directing at Texas A&M-Commerce. She holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from Bowling Green State University and MA and BFA degrees in Theatre from Southwest Texas State University. Dr. Lee is also an alumni of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy's Professional Studio Acting Program. She formerly served as the Chair of Theatre at Lon Morris College and the Director of Theatre at Luling High School where her students appeared at the State Meet. Dr. Lee has participated in the UIL OAP system as an actor, director, and judge for many years and considers it a privilege to be a part of this important pedagogical experience.

Beryl began her career in London working in theatre with disadvantaged students. After immigrating to the US she studied theatre for youth and directing for her MFA at UT Austin. She taught acting at Austin Community College and then at Westwood HS in Round Rock ISD for 28 years, developing a program that included innovative courses in directing and Shakespeare. Since retirement she has been guest directing in Austin.

I participated in UIL OAP all four years as a student, performing at the State Meet in 1984. I have taught all aspects of theatre at Cy-Fair HS for the last 20 years, directing OAP with State appearances in 2006. I am the director of my neighborhood’s community theatre. I have taught at two summer children’s theatre camps.

I have participated in every aspect of UIL One-Act Play, as a student, director, contest manager and clinician. I believe in the educational philosophy of One-Act Play. It is my goal to ensure the students have a positive and meaningful UIL experience. I have directed numerous productions on the high school, college and professional level, including multiple State One-Act play appearances.

Tress Kurzym received her BFA in Directing from Stephen F.Austin State Univeristy. During her time at SFASU, she spent a year studying directing and assisting professional directors on the West End at Rose Bruford College, London. After graduation, she was the assistant director at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and a teaching artist at First Stage Theatre, Milwaukee, WI. As a high school theatre teacher at Fort Bend: Austin she has built a strong program in which her productions have reached the State Level three times.

Trip is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he performed in over 30 college productions, and Off-Off Broadway, and film projects as a theatre major and production minor. He also performed an original play as part of several drug rehab programs. He has gone on to perform in Equity, SAG, and AFTRA productions, with credits including OAP favorite The Foreigner , “As The World Turns” and newly-released Made For Each Other with Bijon Phillips and Lauren German (ABC’s “Happy Town”)

Rosa Lazaro enjoys teaching at TAMUCC. She recieved her MFA in Theatrical Design from SIU-C. Rosa spends her summers working at the Tony Award Winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. She has also worked and designed for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Traci Ledford is a summa cum laude graduate of Baylor University where she received her BFA in directing. After graduating from Baylor, she served as the Education & Outreach Intern at the Dallas Theatre Center before beginning her career as a theatre teacher in the public school systems of both Texas and North Carolina. Traci has served as contest manager at both zone and district levels of UIL OAP competition in previous years. Having completed her MFA in directing from Baylor University, Traci currently works at East Texas Baptist University where she is an assistant professor of theatre arts.

Eric's passion for educational theatre was ignited as an award-winning actor at the state contest. He studied theater, English and speech communication at Texas A&M, working extensively with a nationally-recognized professional performing arts presenter and in partnership with local schools to provide educational theatre experiences for teachers and students. Eric has performed at local and regional theaters, has worked in contest managerial roles for zone, district, and area contests and as a festival critic judge. He now serves as a professional design/directing consultant.

He has served as the Director of the Cornell Interactive Theatre Ensemble and Theatre Arts Department Chair at Amarillo College. Terry received his BA from Southern Utah Univ., MA from Brigham Young Univ. and PhD from Texas Tech. TETA awarded him the Community College Theatre Educator of the year in 1994. His production of Breaking The Code was selected as the national Winner of the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. He has adjudicated over 30 UIL One-Act Play contests and festivals.

Helen Lewis graduated with honors with a BA in Theatre and Speech/Debate from the University of North Texas in 1973. She has been involved with competitive forensics and educational theatre for 35 years as a classroom teacher, director, clinician, contest manager and judge. Mrs. Lewis has served on several committees of the TETA including chair of the Advocacy committee. She worked with the UIL OAP each of the years she taught theatre and has advanced to every stage of the contest including six trips to the State competition with a State Championship in 2010. Her musicals have been nominated as “Best Musical” by the Buckley Awards on several occasions, as well as numerous individual acting nominations. She retired from the teaching profession in May of 2011, and now enjoys time with her family, travel, and theatre.

is currently Professor of University Programs at St. Edward’s University in Austin, having served as the chair of the Theatre department for six years. In addition to more than thirty years of experience teaching theatre, Ms. Loughran is an accomplished director, actress and costume designer, who has worked off-Broadway and in regional, stock, dinner and children’s theatres, as well as in film and on television. She is a very active critic judge, who is proud of her affiliation with UIL/OAP.

Earned his MFA at the University of Arizona. Subsequently has has taken two shows to the International Fringe Festival in Edinburg, Scotland. He played "Donnie" in the "Wrath of Kali" at the Theatre for the New City in New York and has done over 30 commercials, TV or film roles. He has been a professor of Theatre at Texas A & M - Corpus Christi for 16 years. He is currently the chair of the Department of Communication and Theatre.

Daniel Macchietto has fulfilled roles as an actor, director, stage manager, or technician for over 10 years in the DFW Metroplex Area. He is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a BFA in Theatre. Presently he is a part of the theatre critics of John Garcia’s “The Column”, an online website covering theatres big and small in the DFW metroplex area.

B.J. retired in 2000, following over 30 years of teaching all levels. Having been an OAP director for 20 years, she has felt both the agony and the ecstasy of both OAP and speech competition. Although B.J. has many fond memories of students over the years, there is a special place in her heart for those in middle school. Since retirement B.J. has been acting in local community theatre, particularly in Round Rock and the Palace Theatre in Georgetown where she also teaches drama camp in the summer. She judges both UIL and NFL tournaments and strongly believes in the educational value of the UIL OAP process.

Professional actor/choreographer for 35 years. Worked extensively in New York City for 10 years as choreographer/actor on Broadway, Off-Broadway and film. Executive Producer of Waco Summer Musicals and past Board member of American Writers Theatre Foundation, and Theatre Guild Productions, NYC. Author of Actors Handbook of Stage Movement and Theatre Dance. Director/Choreographer of The Texas Playhouse. Awarded Educator of the Year for 2-year Colleges, 1997, TETA. Listed in Who’s Who of American Teachers 2000-2001 & 2003-2004.

Patty MacMullen received her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University. In UIL OAP, she has participated as a crew member, cast member, director, contest manager and clinician. Her students have advanced to the State Meet five times, placing 3rd in 1999 & 2007. She has also directed productions which were chosen to perform at the Texas State Thespian Festival mainstage, International Thespian Festival mainstage and Chapter Select Showcase and the Edinburg Fringe Festival. Patty has taught theatre in middle school and high schools in conferences 3A, 4A, & 5A.

Experienced theatre practitioner for over 30 years. I have taught on high school and university campuses. Directed over 40 shows. Appeared at both ACTF and OAP finals as a director. Specialties include acting technique, directing and movement. Currently working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

has taught and directed educational and community theatre in San Antonio for over 30 years. Jim has judged in UIL-OAP since 1982 and has judged at all levels including State OAP Contest. He is currently a board member for the Alamo Theatre Arts Council, has been recognized by TETA as Educator of the Year (2000), and has served the Adjudicator’s Organization as board member and Chair. His formal education includes degrees from Central Michigan University, Texas Tech University and doctoral hours at the University of Michigan. Jim's philosophy toward OAP is to be sensitive to directors and students and to reach an objective decision based on the criteria established by UIL and TETAAO.

is a Professor of Theatre at Tech. He earned his BA, MFA and Doctorate in Dramatic Literature & Criticism at Yale University. He taught at Yale, Harvard, Stanford, San Francisco State and the American Conservatory Theatre. Jonathan had a Fulbright Fellowship in Theatre in Nancy, France. Through most of his career he has worked simultaneously in theatre education/training and professional theatre production. He has done dramaturgy work since 1969, with much experience in in-house (constructive) criticism. He has advised dozens of student productions and thesis projects. He was graduate advisor at A.C.T. and Tech, and served as Interim Dean of the Texas Tech College of Visual & Performing Arts.

Mellissa Marlowe is a San Antonio performer, director, playwright, and educator. She has been teaching Drama at the college and university level since 2000. At St. Mary’s University, she taught Intro to Theatre, Acting, Directing, and Period Style. At Northwest Vista College, she teaches Acting I & II, Intro to Theatre, Oral Interpretation, Stage Makeup, Stagecraft, and Theatre History. Mellissa is the coordinator of the new NVC Drama program, where she has developed curriculum for the major, serves on several departmental and college-wide committees, and has participated in the design of the new Palmetto Center for the Arts. She directs and performs locally for various venues including Shakespeare in the Park San Antonio and the Witte Museum.

Terry’s 42 years involvement in OAP began in high school and led to an M.A. in theater from Texas Tech. He has directed 23 OAPs in classes 1A-5A including four appearances at the State meet. He has directed and taught at workshops at Texas Tech, West Texas A&M, and the University of Texas, as well as adjudicating festivals throughout the state. Terry believes that OAP should offer a positive experience for everyone involved.

Mr. Martin has earned degrees from Abilene Christian University and Lamar University, with additional graduate-level work. He has participated in adjudication seminars sponsored by the American Association of Community Theatres, coached and directed young people in UIL OAP, as well as youth theatre festival with Texas Nonprofit Theatres. He has performed in plays presented at AACT Fest.

Taught Theatre Arts and directed countless plays at Spring Branch HS, Taylor HS in Katy and Hempstead HS. 11 plays taken to state meet, 3 champions, 2 others placed. I am the Artistic Director of Fort Bend Theatre, and as such have been teaching theatre arts to students and adults for over 25 years. Many of my students have gone on to professional theatre/film careers, including Broadway, Disney and major motion pictures. My degree in theatre is from the University of Houston, although family issues kept me from finishing my MFA. I have directed over 125 shows and overseen an additional 500.

I have just recently retired from public school theatre to establish a business of my own after directing around 10 UIL OAPs and several other shows over my 20 years of teaching. I directed my first show at Perryton High School and my last at Amarillo High School after receiving my basic theatre training at the University of North Texas. I judged UIL OAP’s in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s and I am glad to return to judging

As a regional contest manager for UIL One-Act Play Contest for over 30 years I am delighted to be a judge as well. I am Professor of theatre and senior acting faculty at Sam Houston State University. I have studied in New York and Los Angeles and have directed professionally in children’s theatre. I am a graduate of the MFA and BFA program at University of Texas at Austin. In 1993-94 TETA named me Outstanding Theatre Educator Colleges/Universities. I am the co-author of “The Youth Theatre Director’s Handbook.”

Greg is currently the theatre instructor at Wharton County Junior College. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in theatre from East Texas State University (now Texas A & M – Commerce). As both a high school teacher and college instructor, Greg has acted in, directed, and designed sets, lights, and makeup for a number of staged productions and presentations. With 20 years experience in educational theatre, he has been delighted to be part of the UIL/OAP experience. This appreciation was acquired through his various roles as a director, contest manager, adjudicator, host, and stage technician for numerous OAP festivals and competitions. He has also worked with and participated in American College Theatre Festival. Greg has also written articles for the Texas Theatre Journal.

completed her Doctorate in English at UT-Austin and served for twenty-three years as box-office manager of the Performing Arts Center of the College of Fine Arts/UT-Austin. In this position she supervised ticket sales for the State UIL One-Act Play Contest and attended performances and critique sessions for two decades of state contests.

David McTier is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Sam Houston State University, where he heads and teaches theatre history, theory and criticism and dramturgy. Holding a PhD in theatre history and criticism fromt the University of Texas, David is an active participant in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). In 2003, he won the KCACTF National Faculty Fellowship in Criticism and attended the National Critics Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center. Dr. McTier is also a Texas-certified theatre teacher.

Nancy’s educational theatre background began at Baylor University with classes and work on stage and crews. She worked at the Dallas Theatre Center for one year and spent a year in Los Angeles working in the professional theatre. She began her graduate work at Ohio State University and finished her MA degree at Texas Christian University. She directs and acts in community productions.

Mariana has been blessed to be involved with high school theatre for over 38 years, first as a performer and later as a director. She believes that theatre teaches life skills and enables people (especially young people) to experience a world unlike any other. Along with her OAP adjudicating, Mariana also has been an active TFA, NFL and UIL speech/theatre judge.

Mr. Morgan has worked with UIL for more than 19 years,hosting contest managing,adjudication and directing. Ezekiel graduated from the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston and received his BA from Prairie View A & M University with an emphasis on acting and directing and a MA in Counseling and Education Leadership and is currently working on his PhD. He studied abroad at Williams University with The Williamstown Theatre Festival, (ACTF) Irene Ryan National Winner in 1997 performing and serving as assistant director at the Kennedy Center, worked as an apprentice in Acting and Directing. Understanding the importance of Educational Theatre, Ezekiel has position himself through education and experience to manifest his knowledge to all levels of the UIL contest. Ezekiel currently serves as a Committee member on the Standards of Adjudication and Judging Practice Committee.He is the Artistic Director and Founder of UTAKE 1 Productions. He is an Acting coach in and out of the state of Texas. He has coached actors such as Billy Dee Williams, Darius McCreary just to name a few. Ezekiel taught High School for eight years advancing to all levels including state. He has directed, conducted workshops and adjudicated plays in and out of state for junior high ,High Schools and College/University festivals on all levels. Mr. Morgan's Motto is "Taking Talents to the next level of Perfection".

Mr. Morgan comes to the UIL with 16 years of experience in the arts in every capacity. He has served on the stage as a performer at the high school level (1A), director at the public school level (5A) and currently as a UIL Critic Judge in the UIL OAP Contest. He has studied theatrical arts at multiple venues and holds and Associate’s degree in Theatre Arts from Paris Junior College, undergraduate hours in theatre from Texas Wesleyan University and an honors BFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to acting, he completed a Masters of Arts in Communications in 2009 and continues to pursue direction at the college level. In acting and direction, he has experienced all levels of UIL OAP and Speech Competition, including a trip to the State Meet a a director in Conference 5A in 2009. He loves the educational and competitive spirit of the UIL OAP system and the valuable stage it provides to theatre students of all conferences. Mr. Morgan currently serves as Director of Forensics (Speech/Debate/Drama Events) at Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus in Fort Worth.

Artistic director of The Ensemble Theatre for over 20 years where I direct 3-5 shows per year. I also direct shows in Pittsburgh annually. I teach theatre as life skills, directing and acting classes at The Ensemble, New Horizon Theatre, Pgh playwrights theatre annually, conduct workshops at elementary, junior high and high schools, universities and colleges approximately 10 times a year. Judge acting at NAACP Nationals as well as the local Tommy Tune Awards. Have directed at the Alley Theatre educational department. I am passionate about my art and often use this August Wilson quote: “Art does not change the world; it changes people - people change the world.”

Much of my theatre education background occured while I was “hanging by my britches-” and/or “learning on the fly.” I have directed 38 OAP plays and numerous musicals. I have spent 40 summers working with Summer Drama Workshop in Friona, America! Participated at State Meet in ‘75 and ‘99 - numerous shows advanced to Area and Region in my 44 year teaching career. Currently an adjunct instructor - Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking, Business & Professional Speaking for Amarillo College.

Lynn Murray has served as President of the Texas Theatre Council, the Texas Educational Theatre Association, and the Secondary School Theatre Association of the American Theatre Association. He has also served as the first Executive Director of TETA and he received the TETA Founders' Award in 1980 and the SSTA Founders' Award in 1985. The UIL Drama Program, under his direction, received the first annual F. Loren Winship Award for outstanding contribution to educational theatre from the American Association of Theatre in Education in 1989. In addition to being UIL Drama Director he also served as director of the UT-Austin Department of Theatre and Dance Summer Theatre Workshop for Texas high school students for thirty-seven years and was Associate Director of Student Teaching in Theatre and Dance. He retired after 34 years at UIL and looks forward to judging again.

Beverly is a 42-year veteran of public education having directed UIL OAP & other UIL academics. She directed many UIL OAP state meet finalists. Bev served on the Board of Trustees for TETA as well as EdTA. She has conducted numerous workshops both in Texas and nationally. She believes that theatre is the best means - not to “find oneself” but to create oneself. Process is as important as product. Bev has been named Secondary Theatre Educator of the Year by TETA, Texas Association of Supervision & Curriculum, Live Theatre League of Tarrant County (Texas), Texas Thespians and Score A Goal In The Classroom. Motto: Creating better people through theatre.

I have taught theatre since 1989. I have taught at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY, at Wesleyan University in KS and am currently at South Plains College in Levelland. At each school I have been responsible for teaching all the theatre classes, directing and designing all the productions, which total over 50. My special interests are in stage combat, the works of William Shakespeare and effective acting.

Ray has received the degrees, AS in Theatre Arts from Amarillo College, a BA in Theatre Arts from Texas Wesleyan University, and MFA in Theatrical Design from Tulane University. Teaching college theatre since 1996.and now at Amarillo College, Ray has been on the faculty of Tarrant County College and the University of Texas at Arlington. TETA awarded him with the Educator of the Year for Community Colleges in 2004. His wife Georgianna is a playwright.

Bradley has been Theatre Arts Director at Blinn College, Brenham campus for 15 years. He attended Sanford-Fritch High School, where he was the recipient of 8 best actor awards (UIL and All School Play). He received his A.S. degree from Amarillo Junior College where he was awarded "Most Distinguished Theatre Arts Major". He received his B.S. Degree in Radio, TV and Film and his M.A. degree in Communications from West Texas A & M University. Brad has received post-graduate hours from West Texas A & M University and Texas A & M University, and currently serves on the TETA Committee on Academic Practices and Standards.

I attended Texas Tech University obtaining a BFA both in the Acting/Directing program and the Scene Design program. For three years he served as the educaional director fo the Permian Playhouse in Odessa. He then served a year as the Artistic director before going to UT to obtain an MFA in Drama and Theatre For Youth. After that he moved to Philadelphia to work as the director of theatre for the Haverford School. While there he was selected to take an origianl production to Scotland as par to fthe AHTF. He now serves as the Assistant Director at Cinco Ranch HS where in 2005 their play was a State Finalist.

worked as Electrics Supervisor at the Alley Theatre for four years and participated in two national and one international tours. He taught at the University of Houston-Clear Lake for two years before joining the faculty at Southwestern University in Georgetown where he has been teaching since August of 1992.

Educated and taught in South Carolina and North Carolina before moving to Texs, teaching 5A high school since 2000. Am honored and delighted to be part of the adjudication system for OAP. retired June 2011, after 28 years as Professor of Theatre at Stephen F Austin State University, Nacogdoches, where in addition to teaching performance courses and directing, he was Administrator of the Student-Directed Productions program and for 20 years was Director of the High School Summer Theatre Workshop. He recieved his MA in Theatre from North Dakota State University and his MFA in Directing from the University of Utah. Oster has been contest manager of the Region III, Conference A-UIL One-Act Play Contest for fifteen years and has adjudicated over 70 contests. Allen was the recipient of the University’s 1996 Teaching Excellence Award. In 2006, he was named a Piper Professor of Texas and in 2008 was given the Faculty Achievement Award in Teaching by SFASU Foundation, Inc.

Kelly Parker is a theatre professor at McLennan Community College in Waco. Kelly obtained his MFA in Acting/Directing from Texas Tech University and his BFA in Theatre Performance from Baylor University. He is a former OAP High School Director and has acted professionally from New York and Texas during the past twenty years. Kelly is a certified Meisner Technique acting teacher, as taught by Larry Silverberg, and has trained in voice and Shakespearean acting under Patsy Rodenberg.

I earned a BA and MA in Theatre from Texas Tech University with both acting and extensive technical experience. Emphases in grad school were in costuming and directing, with a production thesis. As a teaching assistant I designed costumes for main stage and lab productions. I recently designed a WTAMU production for ACTF. I directed for 16 years at Tascosa High School and West Texas High School, advancing to every level, including two years to state.

Karen was taught by Luis Munoz as a high school student and attended UIL state finals in three productions under his direction. She attended SMU and received her BFA in 1991. She then went to graduate school at WVU where she also taught acting for the first year majors. She worked with the Contemporary American Theatre Festival, Maryland Ensemble Theatre and has been a company member at Kitchen Dog Theatre in Dallas for seven years. She has also taught at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio and currently teaches and directs at the Winston School in Dallas.

began her love of theatre at Snyder High School under the direction of Jerry Worsham. Her first experience with a State One Act Play was winning Best Actress in 1972. Her last experience was winning the 5A State Championship in 1995 for L. D. Bell High School. She taught high school theatre at Richardson HS, L. D. Bell HS and Southlake: Carroll HS. She is now a counselor at Irving High School. Allana has a strong belief in the positive effect of theatre as an educational experience.

I have been active in theatre since High School. I was a member of OAP and have been to State Meet as a student and a director. I think educational theatre opens dreams, doors and gives life to young people everywhere. In College I was in many productions and continue to direct plays at the Ritz Community Theatre in Snyder where I was the Theatre Arts Teacher at Snyder Junior High for 28 years.

Lena has a BS in Theatre from the University of Evansville in Indiana.Lena has been teaching middle school theatre for ten years. She spent three years in Irving and currently teaches at Fossil Hill Middle School in Keller. She was also involved in a professional improv group and has directed and acted in plays professionally. Lena has taught and directed students from all age groups through classes, camps and workshops she has conducted.
