Judging qualifications:
I competed in prose and poetry interpretation in high school and have judged several events, including a 5A regional competition. I have also judged CX debates in the past. Although I did not compete in CX in high school, I am a practicing attorney with a BA in political science and am able to understand the topics at hand and determine the better constructed arguments and rebuttal arguments.

Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: With a tabula rasa policy I am looking for competitors to convince a party who has no position on the issue, essentially a middle ground voter, which way to cast their vote. Strong points backed with substantive evidence is what I am looking for. The competitors should be able to accurately and effectively dispute any counterpoints to essentially answer any questions the judge may have.
