Judging qualifications:
LD. LD is all about the facts and how well you present them. I'm a traditional debater, so I will care more about the debate itself and the strategy behind each speech rather than only relying on evidence. Regional qualifier (DQ'd due to time break); I've won multiple tournaments and was undefeated for 6 months. Extemp. As an extemper, your job is to simply inform or persuade. I will judge based on how well a speaker is able to do that with their tone, logic, and evidence. Consistent top 6 at all tournaments I attended; there was only one tournament that I didn't make it to finals in extemp for UIL this past year. Prose/Poetry. I am looking for speakers who make me feel something, who are able to use this limited form to the best of their ability. Good stories told by excellent actors is what I would be wanting. I've been an actor for 7 years and have received multiple UIL awards through OAP. I did the event for a few tournaments, so I know the rules of it. Congress. Congress speakers need to do 3 things in their short time on stage: inform, persuade, and interact. I will be looking for speeches with new, original ideas to tackle the bill's issues, a speech that is bursting with reasons to believe it, and a speaker who isn't scared to attack or defend those who have spoken before them.

Philosophy:
I am a traditional judge. Debate should, at its core, be an intellectual sparring match. If a debater does something to one-up their competitor, I would expect that competitor to do their best to retaliate. I'm looking for beautiful speeches that tie together evidence, rhetoric, and interaction with their opponent.
