Judging qualifications:
I have participated in speech and debate competitions for 4 years (or since my freshman year of high school) I also would often judge my peers prose and poetry, extemp, and LD rounds. When it comes to LD I often judge based on who had the better framework debate, specifically value debate. Generally for oral interpretation and Extemp I evaluate who had the best speaking skills, inflection and ability to convey ideas/ points.

Rounds judged: 15
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I think these things go hand in hand, if you cant properly communicate your points, you cannot prove that any points are resolved, and if you cant resolve any issues its because you haven’t properly communicated. I think the best debater in a round should effectively do both.
