I participated in LD debate in high school including 3 total invitationals, 1 district, 1 regionals, and 1 state meet. I have judged debates within the classroom as well as learned and studied the process of judging an LD debate. I have studies national level debates to judge in my practice time. Overall I have seen both the judging side and the state side of LD debate.

The debaters must have good strong value criterion ties and be able to say why theirs are higher than the opponent’s. Both debaters must be able to get through their entire constructive within time parameters as well as be able to refute attacks. Drops are very big for me when judging. I like theory to an extent, but evidence is key.
