I also am involved in workshops and consulting with various school districts in the Beaumont area.
CX: I am a policy maker judge. LD I am more of a traditional judge, but have voted for many non-traditional cases.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: All assertions need evidence. I don't argue the round for the debaters. I expect a clear roadmap. Speed should never impede clarity. I am not a fan of K's but have upped them many times, if they are well run. Reasonability in plan and argumentation is paramount. For T arguments voter and standards are important. Need impact calculus.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I am a morality-based judge. Impacts do not matter to me unless you can show me the morality link. Strong value criterion link needed. Open to unconventional values if the debater can show a moral link.
