Judging qualifications:
I am a highly experienced and passionate forensic speech and debate professional with a strong competitive and adjudication background in UIL events. During my high school career from 2003 to 2007, I was an avid competitor across multiple categories, including Prose and Poetry, Informative Speaking, and Persuasive Speaking. I advanced to the UIL 5A State Meet in Prose Interpretation twice, ultimately placing 3rd in 2006, and was a two-time regional qualifier in Informative Speaking, earning designation as a State Alternate. Following my competitive career, I remained actively involved in the forensic community as a judge at both the district and regional levels from 2008 to 2014. This dual perspective as both competitor and adjudicator has given me a deep understanding of the standards, nuances, and educational value of UIL events, including Prose and Poetry, Informative, Persuasive, and Congressional Debate. I have a genuine love for forensic speech and debate and a strong appreciation for the discipline, creativity, and critical thinking it fosters in students. I would welcome the opportunity to support UIL by helping evaluate and encourage the next generation of competitors as they develop their voices and fully engage with everything the UIL speech and debate experience has to offer. If you want a sharper, more “hire me now” version or something with a little more personality, I can dial it in depending on where you’re submitting this.
