Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 8-10
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: TLDR: Debate is most enjoyable when both sides have fun. I appreciate and will flow any arguments you make that are supported with warrants. I have done debate for 5 years, and enjoy all kinds of arguments. I am most notably familiar with disadvantages and will reward good DA tactics like case turns or link solvency deficits. On the UIL circuit, I value good speaking and precise argumentation. Don't just read evidence at me; show me why you are winning the debate through warrant analysis and comparison of impacts/significance. Doc share: do it, preferably with email chains. Etiquette: Rude/violent behavior toward your opponents is not and never will be acceptable. If your opponents need accessibility accommodations, please accommodate them!

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
TLDR: You must win framework to win the debate, as it sets the lens for interpreting all arguments on contentions. I like clash, and appreciate arguments with clear warrants and voters. I don't care if you structure your case more "tradionally" or "progressively" and read contentions or advantages but on the UIL circuit it should probably be structured [Res, FW, C1, C2, etc.]. I will flow any arguments supported with warrants. High quality speaking will be rewarded high speaker points.
