Judging qualifications:
I'm a 2x cx state qualifier and a state finally, attended state congress (6a), and competed at the regional level for exempt.
I'm a more traditional judge, in the sense I focus on stock issues and I like there to be clear understanding of the words coming out your mouth. I feel that the regurgitation of words with no concept of its meaning it's pointless and harmful to the value of UlL speech and debate.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Speeches should be given at a good speed. If you can't explain an argument then there isn't an argument flowed. Please reference the flow and continue it. Recalling something late in the rebuttal will not be a voting issue.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Your arguments need to be clear. Every point should be dug into not glossed over. Simply saying a concept of argument will not make me flow it.
