Judging qualifications:
Qualifications: Received several medals in both Extemporaneous speaking and LD debate (at invitational and district levels), have also competed at the Regional level for LD debate. In the Spring of 2022, I was the highest ranked competitor from my school in LD debate which made me a Regional qualifier (ranked second overall in the District tournament). Judging philosophy: Speech and debate are both events where one earns the highest amount of points through demonstration of different skills including organization, presentation, as well as clear and convincing argumentation.

Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
As someone who competed in LD debate for years, I highly encourage emphasis on the Value aspect of the debate. The value is what shapes the case and following arguments, therefore it is in the competitors best interest to focus on why their value upholds at the end of the round and how their criterion (as well as other supporting arguments) outweigh the opponents'. Rate of delivery and language: I encourage speed and accuracy when delivering speeches and arguments. That being said, I do advise against the use of spreading. I believe that if a judge can not understand you, then more than likely the same applies to the opponent, thus creating an injustice. Note-taking: I will flow everything in the round. This is not only to give speakers the best feedback possible, but also to ensure that arguments/statements have been tracked accordingly. Judging Criteria: I consider my judging style to be holistic, that is, I will take various factors into account. What I evaluate is how strong each speaker's argumentation was, delivery/persuasion, as well as how well supported the arguments were (whether it be with evidence or examples). In-round etiquette: Above all, be respectful of everyone in the room. While I understand things can escalate, if I catch disrespect in any way, it will not go unnoticed and will likely be reflected on the ballot.
