Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I’m a pretty traditional judge, I care about clear organization, clash, and actually resolving problems problems in the round. I evaluate mostly through the stock issues so keep those clean and explained well. If you drop some thing, it’s gone I flow everything and I expect you to do the same. I always appreciate respectful debaters. Speed is fine if it’s clean and signed, but if I can’t flow it, it’s not on my ballot. Connect your impact back to the resolution and explain why your side actually actually matters in the real world. TLDR: be organized, don’t drop arguments, have good impacts, and have fun.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
I value clear structure, persuasion, and how well you can connect back to resolution. Your value and value criterion are important. (of course) so make sure your case ties back to them. I’m big on impact calc so don’t just tell me what your impacts are tell me why they matter more than your opponents. Organization and sign posting should be clear. I flow carefully, so don’t drop points. Speed is fine as long as clarity is maintained, but if I don’t flow it, it’s not going on the ballot. Strong link stories and real world relevance go along way with me. TLDR: be persuasive, weigh your impacts, keep it respectful and clear
