Judging qualifications:
Communication is key and evidence is king. I'm usually a tabula rasa judge but I can lean legislative depending on the resolution. I don't particularly vote on conditionality or debaters who put pre-requisite conditions or burdens on their opponents. I tend to ask to see evidence if I feel it warrants it or I need clarification. I put my pen down when debaters are just spreading and throwing mud at the wall. Speak up when presenting and face the judge not each other. Watch prompting and practice good ethics in the round. Most of all if you are a more seasoned opponent than your opponent practice good sportsmanship. Give me clear voters and something I can weight arguments on like impact calculus.
