Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: As a policy maker, I am looking to be persuaded by compelling evidence while refuting the claims of your opponent. Dropped arguments way heavy for me as they can easily strengthen a debater's position.Persuasion is very important as I tend to not ask for files so that I can hear and focus on key points. I am flowing an expect you to do the same. Follow the flow.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
During LD, I am looking for the best criterion for weighing the round. I am looking for someone who understands what they are talking about and can articulate easily why their position is stronger. Obviously I need to hear about your value, but this must be tied easily to your criterion and contentions. I don't want to hear great contentions that are not connected to your V/C presentation.
