Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: Numerous across all tournament levels
Judging approach: Other (please explain below)
Policy priority: Equal emphasis on presentation and technical content.
Evidence philosophy: Quality and quantity of evidence are both important. I value how evidence is explained and used in the round.
Paradigm: I decide based on which team best advocates for their policy option—affirmative plan vs. the status quo or a counterplan. I’m receptive to most arguments as long as they’re well-articulated and supported.

LD

Rounds judged: Numerous across all levels
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
• Rounds Judged: Numerous across all levels • Judging Approach: Communication and ethical reasoning are weighed alongside logical structure and clash. • Philosophy: I appreciate value-based debate that also considers real-world implications. Clear frameworks, strong impact weighing, and adaptability are key.
