Judging qualifications:
I have been running Prose and Poetry competitions for the past 13 years in and around the Rio Grande Valley. I am often requested as a judge for both competitions due to my philosophy of offering comprehensive, purposeful feedback to competitors. I do not believe that it is sufficient to rank a student third, for example, without offering them suggestions for improvement and rationales for why they did not advance further in the competition. This is a learning experience in articulation, vocal and physical interpretation, and presentation - all skills that lend themselves to a myriad of different career paths. Thus, as a coach and judge, I hope to offer students ways to hone these skills for their use in their future careers and lives.
