Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 9
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: As a policy maker judge I want to see clear connections of evidence to the resolution. I expect the negative to argue for the status quo. I judge CX debate as a team event. Debaters must work together to present clear arguments and clash with their opponent.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I look for a clear case that upholds the debaters value and criterion. They must also analyze why theirs is better than their opponent. Clash is necessary.
