Judging qualifications:
I participated in speech and debate all four years of high school, qualifying for state in CX all four years and earning several state medals. I have also served as an assistant to the Regional contest director for poetry/prose and extemp, gaining valuable insight and significant experience in judging and tab feedback. In addition, I have significant experience in theatre and have earned state medals in other speaking contests. I have also been consulted to give feedback to various extemp speakers and One Act Play companies.

Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I am a stock issues judge, so DAs don’t carry a ton of weight with me unless the impacts go untouched. Topicality is HUGE - please use it and use it well. Even though I love a T, voters and standards are still essential. I am not too fond of kritiks or other theory arguments. Finally, communication is key. Maintain eye contact, enunciate, and use inflection, for this is a speech contest at its core.
