Judging qualifications:
I did oral interpretation in all years of high school, and went on to study theatre performance in college. I participated in UIL, NFL and TFA tournaments throughout those four years and was a frequent finals contender. I was the TFA state champion in poetry in 2007. I have done a variety of both comedic and dramatic work in my past, and am very familiar with the unique elements of prose and poetry competition. Oral Interpretation events were very formative for me, and though I do not currently hold a theatre job, an ability to present and speak in an engaging way have served me in every role I have held. I think judges at these competitions provide third party perspectives to these students which can be very beneficial in their continued growth. I believe in providing both positive and constructive feedback--I currently have to do this regularly as I frequently interview, and my company prefers 'storytelling' type of questions. The balance of that feedback is important for the individual to value the feedback and take something away from it. I look forward to being considered as a judge.
