Years of Experience: HS CX - 4 years HS Congress - 4 years HS Prose Interp - 3 years HS Extemp - 4 years College CX - 1 year College Parli - 1 year Awards I was a state CX debater my senior year of high school. I placed fifth over all speaker at the state tournament. I attended Congressional regionals for 2 years. I attended regionals for persuasive extemp once. Philosophy I study Philosophy at Texas A&M, and I like to think that I have run a clean round that is not overwhelmed by personal bias. I hold a Tabula Rasa philosophy because I believe that debate is the playground for intellectual exercise. I want debaters running arguments because they think they are important or can win, rather than repeating the ideas of a coach.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 3
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: My paradigm is Tabula Rasa because I believe that when serving as a judge, you cannot enter a room with a specific goal. That quite literally undermines the imperative value of fairness. I want quality evidence because attack someone with 30 random quotes is never as good as someone defending with 5 substantial quotes. I want this to be a space of good communication skill, NO SPREADING. You aren't truly winning if you are speaking so fast that your opponent can't hear you. Finally, making sure all arguments are met. When being a Tab judge, it comes down to arguments made and arguments resolved.
