Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 3
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I don't believe that there are paradigms in debate -- the better and more persuasive argument wins. Persuasion can happen through quantity or quality, but is more often to happen through creativity. So, topicality debates are just as important as critique/theory debates. I tend to find debaters who run mainstream affirmatives and negatives and deal with the complexities of all of the arguments in opposition to them are the better debaters.
