I participated in LD Debate in High School. My Sophomore year I finished Top 8 at the State Tournament. That summer, I attended debate camp at Baylor. Returning my Junior year, I placed 1st in District, Regional before winning a State Championship. Following high school, I attended undergrad at Texas Tech where I majored in Political Science and minored in Communication Studies. During that time, I worked with local high school debate students, teaching philosophy and moral argument, as well as technical aspects such as flowing.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: The most critical criterion I judge for are 1) Does the Affirmative's plan accomplish the resolution and 2) If so, does the plan do so in a way that both solves the problem it is intended to solve AND not create harms elsewhere. As the rounds flows, debaters will be penalized for undefended arguments.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
The Affirmative must show a clear link between their value and the resolution and adequately explain why their value is superior. As the rounds flows, debaters will be penalized for undefended arguments.
