Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am a firm believer in effective communication. If during the 1AC, a debater spreads, it's impossible for the other team to understand the message being conveyed, but more importantly, it does not improve the debater's speaking abilities. I am also a firm believer in quality evidence, and critical thinking. While there may be an overabundance of evidence on a particular issue, it doesn't mean that the evidence will disprove an issue. It's about the debater thinking critically and applying that evidence to the case to disprove/prove a point. Finally, during a debate, I flow the case very carefully. If a debate team drops an issue, I make note of that, but I also believe the opposing debate team is responsible for bringing that to my attention.

LD

The round will always flow to the debater who justifies his/her response and defends his/her case adequately.
