Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 10+
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am a tabula rasa judge. I do, however, lean towards having the stock issues addressed. This is a communication event. The human ear can only process so many words per minute, so if I stop flowing, I am not processing what is being said and the argument is essentially lost. If non-verbal communication clues are used in the audience adaptation/evaluation, the speaker will adjust accordingly.

LD

Rounds judged: 10+
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
While I appreciate the more progressive styles being presented in LD Debate, I do expect a value debate. I want to know that there is a value and the debater has criteria to back it up.
