Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 10
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Policy maker, leans tab. Will listen to any and all arguments, so long as debaters make it clear what the education value/impact it has on the round. Need clear communication and voters to win my ballot.

LD

Rounds judged: 40
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
Tend to lean tab, will listen to all arguments (prefer less progressive arguments like DAs, CPs, etc in UIL LD). Need debaters to provide me clear voters in final speeches - narrow down the debate to main points of refutation. Need strong clash on both sides.
