Judging qualifications:
I have a great amount of experience in judging and coaching speech and debate. I have assisted many schools with participants and have also been a participant in these events since high school. I also do many public speaking events which have allowed me to focus on the communications but also through personal experience be effective at fairly judging competitions. In competitions in high school, I traveled to regionals in many competitions and placed. In college, I am the Student Body President and my commitments don't allow me to travel or dedicate time to team practices but I still have the passion in me. I am also experienced with students, I have worked in K-12 since graduating from high school and have enjoyed every moment with students.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 5
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I enjoy Tabula Rasa in judging because it is a model of starting fresh. I have always judged with a clean mind and no preconceived ideas nor do I get the feelings to side with one person just because I agree on such issue. The importance is how one can uphold their case and how or if the other attacks their case. A good debater follows their opponents arguments and attacks in rebuttal and all participants should remain in a respectful manner towards each other. In addition, it is also important that participants balance out the quantity of evidence and the quality of evidence.

LD

Rounds judged: 20
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
My LD judging philosophy is focused on the communication skills of a participant and also the resolution of substantive issues. It is important that all participants follow their opponents arguments and attacks in rebuttal while remaining respectful towards each other. The communication part of LD is the articulation, getting your point across effectively without too many fillers, and accurately upholding your case while attempting to discredit opponents case.
