Judging qualifications:
I participated in debate from 8th grade until 12th grade. I have done LD, PF, and Extemporaneous speaking. I have had many years of experience and have judged before in my school when I was in High school judging middle school students. I do have experience with public speaking in my university as well, as I have taken courses for my career (nursing) that have taught me how to speak to patients. I am a fair person and I think my experience will allow me not only to judge fairly, but also to provide advise to young debaters.

Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I have never judged CX but I do have a general paradigm to follow. 1. basic respect for partners and opponents. 2. Enough evidence to make a good point but I also highly value the quality of the evidence. Meaning I would like to see the sources and how credible they are. 3. Lastly, I do appreciate courtesy and a level of professionalism. I think debate develops students and it is important to me for them to show these skills of development, professionalism, courtesy, and respect.

Philosophy:
I not only have judged LD but I have also done it. What I love about LD is the philosophy and morality they put into finding a resolution. My basic philosophy just like in CX, is for them to have respect for their opponent and for what we are doing. I would also like for them to show professionalism, courtesy, and knowledge. I suppose what changes about LD is that I do want them to be open minded and respectful of others beliefs and values. When it comes to LD there are a lot values that come into place, more than when it comes to PF when it is more evidence. I think it's important for both, the competitors and the judges to remain neutral and sort of forget about our own beliefs and be open minded to others.
