Judging qualifications:
I have judged speech and debate for three years out of high school and competed in it for four years prior to graduating. I routinely go to many competitions around every other weekend and thus have much experience in every event.

Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am generally ok with anything the teams decide to run and debate on so long as they give every argument the attention it deserves. More specifically, I vote heavier on stock issues and have no real care for kritiks, counterplans, or topicality (unless it's very clear and abusive that the Aff is not topical). I do not like weak "filler" arguments used solely to bog down the other team. I am ok with any speed so long as the taglines are slowed down. I do not like new arguments in the 2nd Negative Constructive.

Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I am a very traditional judge with LD. While I require both teams to cover every argument point by point, I also want to hear more generalized, big-picture arguments as well. I definitely view LD as more of a speaking event, so that means no spreading whatsoever, clarity in all arguments (analogies are very good), and signpost. I highly value defense above all else, but a team that is also offensive will easily take the cake.
