DEADLINE to apply April 27, 2025
PLEASE NOTE: This application form is ONLY for those teachers who will not be bringing student honor crew. If you are bringing student honor crew you should not fill out this form. Instead, you should fill out the Student Honor Crew application.
Teachers selected will serve as members of the State One-Act Play Contest production staff. The State Meet One-Act Play Contests are (1A-3A) May 12-14 and (4A-6A) May 19-21 this year. The meets will be held in Austin at the AISD Performing Arts Center. You will work one meet (1A-3A or 4A-6A) only.
It will be necessary for those selected for the 1A-3A meet to be available from 5:30 pm, Sunday, May 11 (Note: Mother's Day), through Wednesday evening, May 14. Those selected for the 4A-6A meet need to be available from 5:30 pm, Sunday, May 18 through Wednesday evening, May 21. Exceptions will not be approved. The school must see that housing and transportation are provided.
Every effort will be made to select members from all regions and all conferences. Teachers selected as Honor Crew Members will be involved in a learning experience otherwise available only to State Meet participants. They will be prepared for their responsibilities by the State Meet staff and crews.
In order to provide the best learning experience, the teachers selected must be allowed to participate fully in production operations for the complete State Meet. Teachers who cannot fully participate shall not be considered. Teachers certain to be involved in UIL State Meet activities should not apply and those selected prior to regional meets that become State Meet participants must be withdrawn.
Orientation for Teachers working the 1A-3A meet will begin on Sunday May 11, at 5:30 pm in Austin ISD PAC. Please note: Sunday, May 11 is Mother's Day. Orientation for Teachers working the 4A-6A meet will begin at 5:30 pm on Sunday, May 18. Preparation and production activities are scheduled from 6:15 am to 10:30 pm for all contest days of the State Meet.
Applications for State Meet OAP Teacher Honor Crew must be submitted no later than April 27. Final selection will be made and notification sent by e-mail by April 29. Telephone notification will be made where necessary.
Teachers from schools qualifying for the State Meet OAP contest or other UIL academic events must be withdrawn from the Honor Crew by immediately notifying the State Theatre Director. It is essential that administrators and teachers be committed prior to application. Administrators are encouraged to allow teachers this opportunity to learn by being involved in State Meet OAP operations.
Each school may nominate no more than three teachers. Two schools in the same district or adjacent school districts may join together to facilitate housing and transportation.
Final selection of the Teacher Honor Crew will be made by senior staff in consultation with the State Theatre Director.
