I competed in Lincoln-Douglas Debate UIL for four years (2013-2017) and placed at district all four years, advanced to regionals three times, and advanced to state twice, placing third in 3A in 2017. I am deeply familiar with the structure of Lincoln-Douglas debate as well as what to look for in an argument. I am currently working on my Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
I expect participants in Lincoln-Douglas debate to deliver their arguments coherently as well as persuasively, as the event is inherently speaking related. Delivery and the manner in which arguments are delivered are equally important as the validity of the arguments. I expect debaters to be polite to one another while also responding to all arguments. Debaters should defend their values above all else and make sure that their contentions uphold their value and criterion, as this is value debate. Arguments should be simple to follow while also introducing evidence to support the debaters' ideas.
