Judging qualifications:
I competed for 4 years in high school. I made it to the 1A Sweet 16 4 years in a row, including 2 semi-finals appearances. I won the Golden Gavel my final year. While in high school, I judged at 2-3 angel tournaments, and while in college I judged 1-2 tournaments. I haven't been around debate for a few years, but it is something I love, and I use the skills every day. I want to get involved again!

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Overall, debate is for education. Be courteous, don't play games, teach me something, and have fun! 1. I vote on quality and reality of arguments. Real world scenarios resonate well with me, and impact weighing is essential - hence Policy Maker. But I will default to Stock Issues if the Aff doesn't demonstrate the burden of proof. 2. It's not enough for Neg to show the Aff doesn't solve for harms - they need to show the Aff does more harm than good. Real world policies don't solve all harms, so treat this like the real world. 3. I will vote on T, but ONLY if the Aff is lowering the value of debate with their case. If it's so off-topic the neg can't prepare, run a T, but don't run it as a time suck. 4. I'll listen to Ks and counter plans, but I rarely vote on them. 5. Please give me a roadmap! 6. Quality of quantity. Show me some clash over the evidence and sources. 7. Constructives are for constructing the debate. Rebuttals are for rebuttals of the constructed arguments. Depth is more important than breadth for me.
