Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 30+
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I'm a tab judge and am completely open to judging based on how the debaters tell me to. I am open to all types and styles of arguments, from topicality to Kritiks. If debaters say nothing about the framework used in the round, I will default to a policy making framework.

LD

Rounds judged: 50+
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
I am tab, and will listen to any argument presented in the round. Framework debate can be important, but I generally prefer more work being done on the contention level. Debaters can explain how they meet their opponents framework, and I have no issue with this. I like the use of evidence in LD but it is not necessary for me to be able to evaluate an argument. Please provide voters/ weighing in your last speech so I have a clear method to evaluate the round.
