I competed in Lincoln-Douglas Debate all four years of high school, advancing to regionals all four years and state for three. I instructed and counseled the Texas Tech University Speech and Debate camp this summer for six days, teaching students the basics of LD Debate for 10 hours per day.

Paradigm:
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Lincoln-Douglas debate is a value criterion debate - not policy. Both competitors must exude confidence in speech and in body language. I do not base my decision solely off of speaker points, but confidence goes a long way in my understanding you and believing in what you're trying to sell. Ultimately I vote based on factual information, in-depth knowledge of the resolution, and a framework that remains steady throughout the round. I am a traditional judge, but can follow out there philosophy if it is well explained. I don't flow anything I cannot understand, so spreading wouldn't be in your best interests. Most importantly, I am looking for a clean, respectful round.
