I have judged since 2012. I participated in CX debate, poetry interpretation, and extemporaneous speaking in high school. I began judging after I graduated from high school. I typical judge district and regional meets. I have never taught in the school system. I just enjoying hearing the kids speak.

Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged: 15
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Stock Issues are very important. Affirmative has to make sure they answer the negative attacks. Negative teams needs to have clear attacks.

Rounds judged: 20
Approach: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
In LD you have to be able to communicate that your case is right. I consider myself part old fashioned value judge, but no problem with a counterplan run correctly. LD is about communication skills. Speed is not a problem because I can keep up.
