Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 9
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am heavy on communication skills when it comes to debate, because I believe that anyone should be able to watch a debate round and tell exactly what is going on, not just the judge and the debaters. I also do not like the heavy breathing and spitting that goes with spreading. Although I am a stock issues judge, if a non-stock issues argument is brought up, I will vote for the argument if it brings up a good point that is not properly refuted by the opposing team. Lastly, I believe in taking sides with a debate. That being said, I will vote down conditional arguments, because I do not believe in changing sides in a debate round. As far as arguments such as Disadvantages, Counter-Plans, Kritiks, and Topicality, it must have all aspects of the arguments such as links, brinks, and Impacts for a disadvantage if you want me to vote on it as a judge.

LD

Rounds judged: 1
Approach: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
Philosophy:
I have timed in debate rounds where both of the debaters presented great arguments, but you could not understand them and I could see the confusion of the judge whenever he had to make his decision.
