Judging qualifications:
I competed at the UIL and TFA state tournaments for both LD and Extemp in 2004 and 2005, placing as a finalist in Persuasive Extemp at UIL State in 2004. Since graduating high school, I have served as a judge in over 30 tournaments. I strongly believe in the value of speech and debate for students and as a judge I seek to help students reach their full potential as speakers and critical thinkers.

Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
I am a traditionalist in that LD debate is, first and foremost, a values debate. Equally important to the values clash is the ability to uphold one's value through a measurable criteria and carry it throughout the round. I do not favor CX tactics in LD debates, as most these detract from the value clash, the persuasiveness of a student, or both.
