Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 15
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: K - communication if crucial. I will entertain K's but it is imperative that you thoroughly explain the argument. T - make sure it's worth the time that it takes to read. If I am explained a clear and present violation in the affirmative, it will help shape my decision. DA - I like them. Steer clear of generic DA's. Make sure you have effectively and accurately structured the argument. Case - I am most familiar with this branch of argumentation. Case typically plays a big role in my decision. Speed isn't an issue. If I can't understand what you're saying, I'll shout "clear" - don't be alarmed. Respect your opponent. I won't tolerate rude/abusive behavior. Always give road maps, good organization will benefit the both of us. Tell me why I should vote for you, I'll do my best to be a blank slate coming in to the round. It's your job to convince me to vote either way.
