Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
I would consider myself as a progressive judge. I enjoy theory arguments and will tolerate spreading as long as the speaker is understandable. When judging a round I look for value and criterion clash that are supported by the contention level debate. All arguments should be supported by reliable sources and should have a clear link back to their V/C. I prefer voters given at the end of their final rebuttal explaining why I should vote in their favor. If a debater drops an argument and tries to rebut that same argument in a later round I will disregard his point as irrelevant. When determining speaker points I look for several key factors such as proper debate etiquette, organized arguments and debaters who demonstrate superior speaking skills. Road maps at the beginning of each debaters speech is preferred, but isn't necessary when evaluating speaker points.
